RUNEQUEST 2nd Edition Ships Hot On The Heels Of CALL OF CTHULHU 7E

The other day I mentioned that the new Chaosium management had come through on the shipping of delayed Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Kickstarter rewards. However, that's hasn't slowed down their current work any -- they are also already delivering the RuneQuest 2nd Edition Kickstarter rewards from December 2015. That's the RuneQuest 2nd Edition Rulebook, player handouts, GM screen, and a handful of classic supplements. Not only that, backers will get a pleasant surprise when they find those classic books have additional bonus content included! Like the Cthulhu shipping, warehouses are shipping in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.

The Kickstarter took place in December 2015 to commemorate Chaosium's 40th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Glorantha. Having the rulebooks ready to ship as soon as April 2016 is pretty ambitious, and - combined with the way they resolve the Cthulhu issues - speaks well of the new management.

[h=4]Press Release[/h]
Chaosium President Rick Meints announced today that shipping was about to commence for the RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter, the reprint of the iconic RPG.

The Kickstarter, which successfully concluded in late December 2015, commemorated both Chaosium's 40th anniversary in 2015 and kicked-off the 50th Anniversary of Glorantha celebrations in 2016.

"The RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter has had an ambitious delivery schedule. We started delivering the core rewards as PDFs in January as promised, and we are delighted to have all of the core rewards printed and ready to ship to backers through our fulfillment network", said Meints.

Kickstarter backers will be receiving the RuneQuest 2nd Edition rulebook (in hardcover or leatherette), player handouts, GM screen, and the "Old School RuneQuest" (OSR) pack, consisting of four classic supplements and The Sea Cave, a previously unpublished scenario from the era by Greg Stafford.

"Backers will be in for a bit of a surprise," said Meints. "Because our printer advised us it was more cost effective to print each of the OSR books as 24 pages, we searched out and added bonus content related to the originals - an extra 20% of content without any extra cost."

Shipping will be done through Chaosium's four location fulfillment network, with warehouses in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Bit irritated when reading these somewhat triumphalist press releases when Chaosium haven't actually fulfilled either campaign yet. In may be in the final throws, after long delays, but as kickstarter backer of both campaigns I've not yet received anything. Shouldn't Chaosium wait until every backer has actually received their stuff before celebrating?

Are you saying you have not received anything from the RQ KS?

They have been sending out digital stuff for nearly 2 months, stretch goal pdfs products are showing up on a schedule, and the print stuff has been right on schedule other than one glitch at the printer. Books are shipping (USA) or going to fulfillment houses, with some of the weird stretch goals taking a bit longer (the drafts). I dont see how anyone could be irritated about the RQ KS.

Second of all, if I were a CoC supporter, id be pretty thankful I was getting materials at all, considering.

I backed to receive a hardcopy book of RuneQuest, which was apparently expected going to be delivered in January as it was already "done" and ready to go. I'd have patience to a degree, but as I said, it hasn't been delivered still.

With regards to Call of Cthulhu, I find any notion that people who may have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars in good faith for a product that has taken three years to just get to this point (and is still not actually fulfilled yet) being "thankful" for anything to be pretty incredulous.

You misunderstood something. the file was ready to go to the printer as the KS started, and went to the printer in January right after it was over (as the KS ended right before XMas). It was never supposed to ship in January.

You realize that this is a "new" Chaosium? They didn't get any of that money from the KS. The previous management blew it all. There was no money from the KS when they purchased the company (and thus why no-one got anything). The new Chaosium have though, in good faith, and with their own cash, got the books printed and on the way to the people that paid for them. I'd be pretty happy someone stepped up to the plate and "ate it" to get my books done.

It seems to me you have formed an opinion without being informed or just misinformed.

Not taking into account the months, that's 35 years of CoC. They deserve some praise for the additional investment they gave to get the 7th edition to print. That was incredibly generous on their part.

Incorrect. The campaign itself finished last year, and the "Estimated delivery" for the hardcopy was Jan 2016. The implication from the campaign video was that it would go off to the printers immediately after the campaign finished.

You realize that this is a "new" Chaosium?
And do you realise that that this same thing has been said for a year now, to the extent that anybody who has been a backer would obviously know this. Moreover, this is not relevant to my points about not being triumphant till the items have actually been delivered and promises fulfilled (and they haven't yet), and the situation is hardly helped by people advocating for the company in a patronising and defensive way either.

You need to go re-read the campaign, and the updates in December for RQ. They clearly state what I have stated.

And you need to realise that interjections such as yours do nothing to make people want to buy from Chaosium again. Nor do self congratulatory messages before Chaosium have actually delivered their fulfillments.
