RUNEQUEST 2nd Edition Ships Hot On The Heels Of CALL OF CTHULHU 7E

The other day I mentioned that the new Chaosium management had come through on the shipping of delayed Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Kickstarter rewards. However, that's hasn't slowed down their current work any -- they are also already delivering the RuneQuest 2nd Edition Kickstarter rewards from December 2015. That's the RuneQuest 2nd Edition Rulebook, player handouts, GM screen, and a handful of classic supplements. Not only that, backers will get a pleasant surprise when they find those classic books have additional bonus content included! Like the Cthulhu shipping, warehouses are shipping in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.

The Kickstarter took place in December 2015 to commemorate Chaosium's 40th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Glorantha. Having the rulebooks ready to ship as soon as April 2016 is pretty ambitious, and - combined with the way they resolve the Cthulhu issues - speaks well of the new management.

[h=4]Press Release[/h]
Chaosium President Rick Meints announced today that shipping was about to commence for the RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter, the reprint of the iconic RPG.

The Kickstarter, which successfully concluded in late December 2015, commemorated both Chaosium's 40th anniversary in 2015 and kicked-off the 50th Anniversary of Glorantha celebrations in 2016.

"The RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter has had an ambitious delivery schedule. We started delivering the core rewards as PDFs in January as promised, and we are delighted to have all of the core rewards printed and ready to ship to backers through our fulfillment network", said Meints.

Kickstarter backers will be receiving the RuneQuest 2nd Edition rulebook (in hardcover or leatherette), player handouts, GM screen, and the "Old School RuneQuest" (OSR) pack, consisting of four classic supplements and The Sea Cave, a previously unpublished scenario from the era by Greg Stafford.

"Backers will be in for a bit of a surprise," said Meints. "Because our printer advised us it was more cost effective to print each of the OSR books as 24 pages, we searched out and added bonus content related to the originals - an extra 20% of content without any extra cost."

Shipping will be done through Chaosium's four location fulfillment network, with warehouses in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Incorrect. The campaign itself finished last year...

Yes, the campaign finished on December 22nd, i.e. less than four months ago. Kickstarter released the funds in the second week of January 2016 and that's when PDFs of the core rewards - RQ Classic rulebook, GM screen and Player Handouts - were immediately made available.

Since then, PDFs for various stretch goals including Fangs, Old School RuneQuest Pack (5 PDFs), Plunder, Apple Lane, Snakepipe Hollow, RQ 1st Ed rulebook and the Guide and Atlas bundle have been progressively released, with more to come soon. As said in the story, the core rewards have also now been printed and are ready to be shipped.

Trippy
And do you realise that that this same thing has been said for a year now...(that there is new management at Chaosium)

It hasn't been a year. Greg and Sandy actually resumed control of the company in mid-June 2015, and it's been just over eight months since the Moon Design team came on board in August with the key priority of sorting out the Kickstarter mess.

Trippy
...to the extent that anybody who has been a backer would obviously know this.

Yes, they would probably know this because since then Chaosium has striven to establish strong lines of communication and provide regular updates with backers about the status of the various Kickstarters (HotOE, CoC7e, RQ Classic), including being up-front about any changes to release dates (there had been many justified complaints about a lack of communication previously). However, a story about the company here on EN World is really for the wider gaming community.

And you need to realise that interjections such as yours do nothing to make people want to buy from Chaosium again. Nor do self congratulatory messages before Chaosium have actually delivered their fulfillments.

Im not sure why anyone would base a purchase on what I have posted. Im nobody. People can make up their own minds, but people should have the correct info , to make that decision. You were not posting correct info. See MOB's posts for clarification.

Now, Im off to give some internet high fives, just to piss people off.

I will indeed let people make up their own minds as to what that says. And it's nearly the end of April and I've yet to receive either this product or the Call of Cthulhu product pledged nearly 3 years ago. In terms of people's interjections here, it is a case of 'the straw that broke the camels back' maybe, but I will not be purchasing any more Chaosium products again from this point onwards.

I can go through and multiquote alll kinds of things from the KS as well to show proof of you being wrong. But I won't, becuase I don't care to argue with you anymore.

Bottom line- Pdfs were being delivered in mid January via backerkit. They were delivering product.. It was clearly stated in the risks and rewards how things were to proceed if it funded. If there is an issue with reading comprehension, or failing to read the schedule for delivery of product that is not Chaosium's fault.

That isn't some obscure, random quote. That is my actual Pledge copy. The Risks section merely says the product was done and just needed to be printed. The delay - if anybody was being truly honest - was due to trying to get follow on sales through Backer kit. Moreover, all of this is a sideshow to the complaint I was actually making on this thread. Oh, and me not wanting to continue with Chaosiun beyond this point - that's all down to the manner of your posts.

Im not associated with Chaosium, so you aren't bothering me. Please take your toys and go home if you are that upset.

And I'm not talking about random quotes. I'm talking about the campaign updates. You didn't read/comprehend what was clearly laid out, then complained about it, unfairly berating the company. Now you are called on it by a random internet person and decide not to support the company in the future. Sorry, you are being childish.

We're sorry if we've lost you as a customer Trippy! We've been forthcoming and open about developments in our KS updates, which the overwhelming majority of our backers seem to have appreciated. We hope you enjoy the KS rewards, which you'll be receiving soon!

Hrmph...well, we'll see. As I said, my original point is simply that there shouldn't be a big fanfare till backers have actually got their rewards (and PDFs are not what I backed these campaigns for). What incensed me was the notion, by JeffB, that we should be "thankful" at getting anything "at all" (from the CoC campaign). Chaosium fans have had to endure a whole catalog of issues in recent years - which I acknowledge isn't all the new management's fault - but still, the trust to buy new products has got to be earned again. That's all. Now I'm going to sleep on it.
