D&D 5E Dragonborn (w/Fizbans) Still Suck?

I just got Fizbans and Witchlight. They buffed Dragonborn but relative to the buffs of Tieflings in Mordenkainens and Tasha's in general they are very modest.

But others have had the book for longer just wondering what others think. Obviously they're better but by how much idk yet.

Thoughts?

I'm just a filthy casual, so optimization is not something I seek out, but I won't turn away options that are fun.

The main issues I've had with the race they've partially addressed - changed the dragon breath for the better, though I wish they'd made it a bonus action instead of "one of your actions" (rogues and other 1-attack classes will have to still use their entire action to breath, the damage isn't worth it generally to do so). The 5th level immunity is nice as well.

They were usable as-is in the PHB, but the changes in Fizban (and the racial feats in Xanather's) make them, in my opinion, quite swell. Just need an option for Dragon Flight ... maybe another feat?

Gem Dragonborn can fly without a feat.

But I think a feat would be appropriate, provided limitations such as not providing any half ASI with the feat, no faster than 30 FT/move, and not working with medium or heavy armour. Alternatively, just take Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer and wait until 14th level.

It's different, a bit better than the original, I think I prefer it. The proficiency bonus/long rest uses is handy for the dragon fear feat. You might have less uses early on, but being able to use it more than once between short rests I could see being useful. The level 5 abilities are cool as an expansion on each subrace. About the only thing I don't like about them is the floating broken horns of the gem dragonborn, I don't know why, it just doesn't work for me

I like it. I think a metallic with Dragonfear feat and Fey Wanderer Ranger would be badass!

Is this explained anywhere?
The Gem Dragonborn share strong physical similarities to the Gem Dragons they share lineage with. All of them showcase horns or spines that seem to be separate from the dragons body, yet maintained in place due to the dragon's psionic nature.
