D&D 5E A Compilation of all the Race Changes in Monsters of the Multiverse

Over on Reddit, user KingJackel went through the video leak which came out a few days ago and manually compiled a list of all the changes to races in the book. The changes are quite extensive, with only the fairy and harengon remaining unchanged. The book contains 33 races in total, compiled and updated from previous Dungeons & Dragons books...

What's happening here, at least for my part, is that I prefer the way 5e was designed until 2020, when to my mind a gear change clearly began to be made. 5e in 2014 is what became super-popular after all, so it's hard to believe the designers were making it under duress. And bad-mouthing the fans of 5e Classic, whether it be by fans of New 5e or the designers themselves, is uncalled for.
Noone will take your books away.
You can use them forever. I know this is common knowledge, but it seems it didn't stick.
So let other people be happy with the evolution of the design.
What do you expect wotc to do? Shouldn't they update the rules to be a better fit for the newer generation and make some money out of it?
That is what corporations should do if they want to make money in the future. They probably won't get money from you, but they already got yours. And you were happy for nearly ten years.
Isn't it fair that younger people will be happy for the next few years?

If you think it is only due to social media pressure, that is ok. Time will tell if you are right to doubt the shift in preferences or if wotc is right to go with the flow.

...and the only reasonable explanation you found for the gear change you perceived in 2020 was designer engagement on a social platform that has been available since 2006? I get the sense that you are trying to find a scapegoat for changes you dislike that the designers themselves may genuinely want to make. The designers can't have their own opinions about their changes. It must be the fault of those Twitterverse people! Why can't you take the designers at their own word that these are changes that they have wanted to make for quite some time now?

Edit: I think that it's fine if you don't like these changes or the direction that WotC is taking D&D. However, I don't think anything is gained by creating conspiracy-like narratives or insinuating that the designers are merely caving in to an amorphous Twitter-mob you can point to when it comes to changes you dislike. A relevant comic that I like pulling out for such discussions:

This is a bit incoherent. I don't get how the latter follows, precedes, or relates to the former. It's an ad populum argument that doesn't really relate to anything.

And bad-mouthing the fans of 5e Classic, whether it be by fans of New 5e or the designers themselves, is uncalled for.
Forget imaginary dragons. I can't even see the windmills you are tilting at with this one.

Honestly, evolution is less of a problem than casting aspersions that the game was "crippled" by including traditional elements. Change is change - people will grumble about that. At least evolution is less jarring than revolution. But some pot shots are unnecessarily pejorative.

Clearly 5e was a mistake and WotC should have doubled down on 4e.

Mod Note:
There's already a moderator note in this thread asking folks to cut back on the snark.

If, soemhow, you got the idea that the note didn't apply to you, now is the time to disabuse yourself of that notion. It does, in fact, apply to you. Proceed accordingly. Thanks.

You know "play as you want" is great advice until you realize that sword cuts BOTH ways... I like some of what I see as 5.5/6/annavsery edition but

no but I would expect respect when people disagree with the direction it is taking...
That is what corporations should do if they want to make money in the future.
and how do they know what way will make more money if people shush people who disagree?
They probably won't get money from you, but they already got yours. And you were happy for nearly ten years.
and that loss of money in the future may mean they have to readjust again... it might be helpful if people talked pro/con.

I find it interesting that 4E era had "Good Orcs" in Faerun which Salvatore spent plenty of paper and ink to establish and then they "fixed" it was like "Oh no Orcs are bad" and again Salvatore had to spend ink and paper to re-establish this (and bring back his characters from death) and now Drizzt is at odds with his Goddess over if Orcs are good or bad.

And that was the start of start and middle of 5E and here we are.

WotC does indeed listen to the fans and change things as they see fit at a moments notice. Orcs bad, no good, no bad, no good!
