Ok, I'm sorry if using Disney bothers you. I think the softer tone of the modern illustrations vs older illustrations is pretty apparent.

Right. That's all I was saying.

Again, I'm sorry if using "Disney" bothered you, but it was the best way I could sum up the "softening of the modern illustrations vs. the older ones.

I think if there is a trend in the art, it is away from romanticized eastern European "medevil" and towards the sort of fantasy often depected in wider media of the 70s and on.

It didn't "bother" me, it's just not a useful term here. It doesn't communicate anything, because Disney is not a unified style by any means. It includes a variety of styles.
