If I don't count the small badly painted Lyran fleet from the 1980s, or the unpainted bunch in Ascension: Tactics... then one (ordered for a sci-fi game that never got started).

I have a HeroQuest set plus expansions from the 90s that is fully painted, the relaunch set from last year that isn't painted at all (yet), plus over 400 minis from the two Blacklist Games Fantasy Series Kickstarters that are chilling in a Florida warehouse with no delivery ETA. Plus I have a handful of others I've purchased recently, some prepainted and some not.

I don't use minis in my D&D, DCC, or other TTRPG games, but I enjoy painting the miniatures. This summer I plan to do all the HeroQuest relaunch minis, plus the Blacklist ones if they ever show up. And hopefully my 8yo will join me, since that's a big part of why I've bought so many.

Not sure. Maybe 1,000? I got them all painted, but haven't really used them for anything (honestly, it was the painting that most interested me), and so they've been packed up since my first house move and are unlikely ever to be unpacked.

But having put all that effort into painting them, I'll never get rid of them, which probably means they'll sit in their boxes for another few decades, and then my wife or children will get rid when I'm gone.

No idea. Thousands, probably - not going to count them.

Mostly D&D pre-painted minis but also some star wars spaceships and a few unpainted ones.

We always used the cardboard chits for SFB. We wouldn't have been able to afford enough miniatures to make it worthwhile.
Just counting the rule books (I think I still have all of them in a big binder downstairs somewhere), it was a lot of $$$ for not many chances to play :-/

I think I only had a handful of the minis, so that part of the cost wasn't nearly as bad as my paint and gluing jobs.

I enjoyed SFB a lot when I was playing 1-3 games a week, 0-2 duels, 0-2 small fleet (200-500 point Commanders/Captains). that was 1990 to 1994 or so.

In the last decade, I've used SFB materials more for Prime Directive setting than for SFB itself.

What happened? I moved out of the urban zone, and friends no longer stopped by to play pickup games...

Just today, while cleaning, I ran across a case containing a couple of dozen 1e-era minis. Those are the only ones I have, and I haven't touched them in... at least a decade?

My SFB pal gave me all his stuff in the early 2000s. I've never been able to find another human being willing to play, so the game has sat untouched and unloved for many, many years now. At this point, I doubt I'll ever have the opportunity to play again.
