Well, “Aegis” means “shield”, the way it’s written looks like a spell (2nd level, 3rd level). Prodigy could be some kind of class or species equivalent. I believe everyone is human in this setting, but transhuman PCs are possible. I suspect all PCs will have an “Aegis” ability attached to their armour slot.

Another reason everyone is armoured is it also serves as vacuum/enviromental protection. No need to get changed when the location doesn’t have a breathable atmosphere.
