If anyone's curious what 5 weeks off of training does, I have selfies. (Excuse potato quality).

And this is Mar. 31. I'm about the same weight here, so significantly more fat and less muscle.

Still sore from my workout on Saturday! Glutes, hams, bis, tris, chest and delts all sore. Also very hungry; had breakfast today, which I don't normally have.

I've heard a theory that taking a month+ off resets "anabolic resistance" and primes you for new levels of muscle mass. I'm skeptical; I suspect I'll just get easy gains back to my previous level and then they'll stop, but we'll see!

LISS cycling at home today, gym tomorrow!

Last night the gym was mobbed so I did some less accustomed machines after a warmup on the elliptical. Machine chest press, machine rows, and my first go at hack squats. I usually do leg press for my main quad exercise and do sets at close to three times my body weight, but this was another beast entirely and I did a small fraction of that. I think I've got some DOMs coming on, though, so again felt like productive work.

How do you like your hack squat machine? Everything I've read indicates that they're great, but I always feel uncomfortable using the one in my gym.

Looking lean!

Its my first machine on Leg Day. Puts more pressure imo on the fronts of the knee than other machines/free squat. I dont get the weight nearly as high with it.

Was super sore all night, neck and shoulders, but the bones. I think my tendons and other connective things are not keeping up with the rate of muscle building.

It felt pretty good physically. The positioning of the hack squat and leg press at PF right in the middle of everything between the Smith machines and the dumbbell benches do make me feel slightly socially uncomfortable, surrounded. I felt a little self conscious doing such low weight, but I know that's silly.

I've never felt comfortable with regular squats, though I did belt squats a few times at my old gym after they got a machine. But the hack squat machine didn't feel like I was compromising my back and didn't hurt my shoulders, so that was cool. I'll have to see how that changes at higher weights once I get more comfortable with it. It seems like it could be a good addition to the rotation.

The thread on our comfort being naked in public got a lot of people suggesting they are in poor physical shape. There was an old thread where many folks talked about their exercise regimens. Rather than necromance that thread, I figured we should have a new one.

Do you have any fitness/exercise/workout regimen? How's it going?

In that old thread, Umbran mentioned training for a "Run for Your Lives" zombie run -- Umbran, did you ever do that? How'd it go? Fun?

Anyone else have fun workouts? Anyone do Crossfit? I'm somewhat curious about that.

for being 50 Im in great shape! I have a shoulder injury that Ive successfully rehab'd with weekly PT and now Im making the strength gains I used to have in my 30s. I do cardio 3-4x weekly (1 hour) and strength/resistance training same number of days; I never ignore leg day so looking good, feeling good.
