Got mine, from 1979.I literally still have my first set of polyhedrals, light purple, sharp-edged with crayon in the numbers…from 1977!
PDFs are exactly the same. The best thing about game stores imo is not having to wait for shipping. I like being able to go look at a thing, pick it up, and leave with it.
Not always. Several sites wait for the next business day before emailing a link; fewer now than in the 00's.PDFs are exactly the same.
I didn't count crowdfunding, and I never buy from places with a delay. If Steam can get me a game in seconds, a pdf of a few Mb should not be an issue. Never coddle gaming companies, it encourages slackness. Not always. Several sites wait for the next business day before emailing a link; fewer now than in the 00's.
Others, such as mongoose, it's not that long (usually under an hour)... but it's still less immediate than the FLGS.
And then the crowdfunding. It's a month or two before I'll see the PDFs... I've one from 2018 that still owes me a stretch goal PDF.
Have them? I still play with themI literally still have my first set of polyhedrals, light purple, sharp-edged with crayon in the numbers…from 1977!
Technically, mine are still in play as well…just not by MY hands. Inspired by my gaming host in Austin (Alan Hench) a while back, I created a bucket of dice for the use of players who had forgotten their own or newbies who hadn’t bought any yet. My “purple sharpies” were the first set of dozens to become my hospitality set.Have them? I still play with them. Played with my Moldvay set last night as a matter of fact, although I probably shouldn't have since I failed 4 out of 5 cure wounds spell checks in Shadowdark...
When my daughter was born in 2023, I was showing her photo to some guys at work, and one of them said, "Oh, is that your granddaughter?" And I instantly grew 30 years older and felt my knees and back pop and my teeth fall out.
Really? The dude who drank from the fake Grail was right there.
