When and where did you learn about Greek/roman and others mythology?

So, at least when i was growing up in the school system (1990-2004 roughly), I had never heard any mythology beyond knowing the basics due to Disney movies, then internet memes, then the Percy Jackson and other related books.

Primary school. Aside from the regular Greek and Norse stuff I remember doing a compression on Baba Yaga, and reading the end of Robin Hood (the bit where he is poisoned by the abbess) in class.

I also picked up some stuff on the BBC. I remember David Attenborough did a show for children’s TV called Fabulous Animals (1975) that looked at mythical creatures and their real world inspiration. The accompanying book was probably the first non-fiction book I read.

Can't say which was first. I remember an episode of Casper which retold a portion of the Oddissey and this thing called Saint Seiya (there was a companion series of magazzines that were a mix of comic and coloring books that retold the series and each included a myth related to a Constellation). Also the Hercules Legendary Journeys, and some Greek Myths appeared in the National text books for elementary school. Later on, I read about them in Encarta and then on the internet.

When I was in first grade in a California elementary school in 1979/80, our teacher (whose last name somewhat coincidentally was Atlas) read to us from a book of Greek mythology. I'm pretty sure she read to us about Perseus (who became my favorite Greek hero) and definitely about Theseus, Aegeus, and the Minotaur. I was hooked and picked up a copy of D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths at the local public library shortly thereafter and read it cover to cover. Later, I think in second grade, I found a book of Norse mythology at the school library and gobbled that up as well.

As a kid, but I honestly can’t remember when or where. But I’ve known Greek myths as far back as I can remember.

Same with other ancient history/mythology -- Egyptian, Norse, etc. Mainly European though; I didn't know of any South American, African (except Egypt), Asian, etc. mythology as a kid. Plus biblical stuff and British stuff (Arthur, Robin Hood, the big ones).

As a kid, watching old Hollywood movies like Jason and the Argonauts (1963) got me interested. In the late 70s, I remember watching L'Odissea, an Italian TV series dubbed in French. Very adult not cheesy.

In 1986, at university, I took an elective class in Greek Mythology. It was a great session.

After that, I started reading classic ancient world history and mythology books. The TSR book HR3 about Celts, got me interested in that region of the world.

As a kid age 5 or 6. Asterix and obelix and a book on archeology.

When I found out Italy had a Rome I thought cool same as Asterix. Didn't know they were the same city.

And, of course, from D&D when I was about 11. Well, some of the monsters at least. Including the ones they did wrong!
