Hehe same. Those shows are roooough by today’s standards
Which, of course, makes the purists' arguments a little shaky, because being truly faithful to the originals would not be great. Pretty much everyone actually wants an update, if only to make the writing not-awful. So then it becomes a matter of how it's updated, rather than whether it's updated at all.

Spector Creative is somewhere on my YT feed. (Scott handled the brand at Mattel during the 2000s and Classics era) He claimed this was the intent during the 2000s revival. To have a good quality cartoon that updated the old one while remaining faithful. And of course to sell more toys

As s limited release for collectors, the attempt was a success. For the general public at large, it was a failure.

I did try revisiting the old cartoons the other week--that was a hard watch! Let's just say I clearly have nostalgia-tinted memories, because the reality was not good! Though I did enjoy seeing Battlecat.
I went and watched Teela's Quest again after this thread, and I enjoyed it.
Even the terrible Mermen design fit as part of its 1980's charm

but yeah the 2000 version was way better (I even liked the newest netflix version)

It wasn’t the animation I struggled with. I don’t mind that type of 80s animation (ironically I find modern animation really hard to watch). It was the terrible wooden voice acting and pacing!

The original He-man is one where I can only watch around 10 episodes before getting bored. I'm not sure what the reason is, perhaps it is as @Morrus suggests, wooden voice acting and pacing.

The 2002 version is awesome though! IT really rocked hard at the time, and is still great!

On that note, when I saw them putting this one on Earth (at least at some part) an inner part of me groaned. The first MotU movie had them on Earth, but at least He-man didn't start there. He wasn't some lost kid on Earth (though they had the lost kids from Earth, Adam wasn't one of them). I think there were many who questioned why that original movie did so much on Earth (I know, money problems, but they all would have rather seen Eternia instead for far more of the movie). That they decided to include a huge chunk of the movie again on Earth???!!! What do they think we are, people who can't relate to any character that doesn't start off on our planet or something?

I don't know about this movie.

That’s basically it. Building Eternia is expensive; Earth is already here.
