The last few weeks I've been hooked on listening to this on repeat - obviously drawn to search it from being the background music to so many video shorts in my algorithm.
I found out this is an AI version of the original which is not Afro Soul but Pop - And to be honest I much prefer this to the original which happens to be over a decade old written by the artist Stromae (Paul Van Haver). The song also speaks to many of us who have lost a father.
Stromae’s father, Pierre Rutare, a Rwandan architect, was killed during the 1994 Rwandan genocide while visiting his family. He was largely absent from Stromae's life, and his death inspired the artist's hit song "Papaoutai". Stromae was raised by his Flemish mother in Belgium and rarely saw his father.
The AI version features the voice of the Congolese-Russian singer Arsene Mukendi.
