What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I would have to agree with the people rating Lae'zel higher for unique content and perspectives. In fact, I think even objectively she's inarguably above Wyll, like just literally looking at how much you can do/see as Wyll that you can't do normally. I also think Shadowheart is below Lae'zel for origin runs. Karlach has a big advantage in that she talks to herself, and whilst there's not a huge amount, there's enough to make it feel much more intentional. Gale is also very well-done. Whereas Wyll is one of those ones where it seems like they should, in theory have a unique perspective and content, but simply, factually, measurably, they do not. There are crazy numbers of places where Wyll should have Wyll-specific dialogue and reactions and he just doesn't. It's wild.
Fair assessment. I'm a little biased as I was doing a Lae'zel Origin run at the same time I was doing a githyanki Durge run romancing Lae'zel, and I was a little disappointed at how little they seemed to differ. Basically, I think you get more out of the githyanki portion of the story arc as a gith Tav with Lae'zel companion than you do with Lae'zel Origin.

But Lae'zel Origin does let you play briefly as Losiir, probably the most random party member in the game!

I need to look through this thread because I'm so bad about playing new games. (Guy who plays hours of Overwatch every day) I've played the same games I love over and over (DOS2, Outlast 1/2, Fallout New Vegas) once again lol. I did play a lot of The Veilguard until my computer started to hate it. I miss my handsome rook and his boyfriend Emmrich cries

Comfort-food games are a thing. Its one reason I've currently stopped buying new games, because I can't get myself to play them when I find dropping back to XCOM2: War of the Chosen, or (even more extreme) Master of Orion 2 relaxing wheras getting myself to actually engage for long with Phantom Doctrine or City of Gangsters requires some effort.

Yeah, XXOM, XCOM2 and more occasionally Subnautica and Subnautica 2 are my go-tos for comfort gaming. Familiar games with satisfying gameplay loops and self-contained playthroughs that I know I'll get through without getting bored.

If I need something even more contained that I can get through in an afternoon, possibly while listening to an audiobook or podcast, there's FTL.

Yeah I definitely agree arpund comfort game stuff, especially as my gaming time drops i tend to fall back on my old favorites- LOTRO, Avernum series, Baldurs Gate series, Might and Magic, Civil games and Paradox Grand strategy games.
If I have lots more time available more willing to try new games or sink time required to continue runs in Trails in Cold Steel / Assassins Creed series, but need time to be able to sink into them, whereas playing thr older games where know a lot of what happens easoer to start and stop.
Does mean with LOTRO twnd to focus on older regions rather than latest expansions though :)

I know they say it is best to play this game without spoilers but that went out the window pretty fast, kind of as a byproduct of playing with a friend and having multiple "first runs" going at the same time. Unfortunate, but I suppose if BG3 really is super replayable then spoilers were always going to be a given for most runs.

I find it really hard with games with so many choices to not want to know which things are going to lead to the "right" outcomes for my characters. I am also a mostly unrepentant save scummer, though I am pretty much keeping my save scumming to rolls rather than choices with my first solo run.
