Question about Steel Avalanche (Monk Daily)

The effect on this Close blast 3 power reads: Effect: You shift 4 squares to any square adjacent to the blast. Can you shift into the blast? Or would you have to be in a square outside of the blast? Or could you be in a square that is either just outside of the blast or just within the blast...

    Help reading Fearless Rescue power

You're definitely right. I missed that target line.

    Help reading Fearless Rescue power

Okay, I think I can answer my own question now. The answer is no. The second effect listed under the power is an effect of the attack. So even if the trigger occurs, you still have to make an attack to heal the ally. The attack doesn't have to be against the enemy that killed your ally, though.

    Help reading Fearless Rescue power

Resurrecting this thread ... Also, you don't have to move before the attack AND you don't have to attack the enemy that killed your ally. My question: can you forgo the attack (for whatever reason) and still trigger the effect (healing the ally).

Speeding up combat: have you tried to halve hit points?

I had a house rule for pbp that everything's hit points were reduced by 15% (PCs and monsters). The only tweak is that I gave 133% XP for minions since minions became a bit more powerful than before. I think all of that works fine. You could make it 10% if you want to make the math quicker and...

    Stumped on this character's AC

    That explains it. Thanks!

    Stumped on this character's AC

Howdy, I'm wondering if anyone can shine some light on why the DDI Character Builder is giving this PC a 23 AC. I get 22 when I do the math on my own. Dwarf Cleric Warpriest, 4th level +2 Chainmail Delver's Armor Heavy Shield No feats that improve AC. Guardian Theme (no AC bonus that I can see...

    Classifieds Suggestion

I notice in the Gamers Seeking Gamers feature that Talislanta is not listed as a game option. I think it would be tres cool if it was. Thanks!

So I have the Martial Powers book.

If I may please ask for a small bone to be thrown this way, how does the new Rogue at-will work? Thanks in advance.

    New Skills: Maritime and Cartography

I wrote these up for a campaign that will have a lot of exploration of islands, with the characters going out and getting paid to create maps and scout. I was going to make an ENwiki page about it, but the site is moving so slowly that I gave up. Here's a thread from the game about the skills...

    Explain INT and Reflex, Please

Cheers! It mainly defies fantasy common sense with Wizards, though, and they are the most likely to really benefit dramatically from that really high INT, and to have such a dramatically high INT in the first place. The part that does bug me a bit is that if you create a 20 INT Staff Wizard...

    Explain INT and Reflex, Please

When it comes to something like a Fireball or other magical spell, I can understand a WIZ benefitting from INT. But against ranged melee? Not as easily. And against basic melee combat? Not at all, really.

    Explain INT and Reflex, Please

Golf clap. Better than I could come up with, actually. Still a really silly rule.:p I'd be tempted as a GM to only let DEX add to your Reflex/AC. Then make the wizards a little more powerful. Like give them more spell options, or a static +1 or +2 to hit.

    Explain INT and Reflex, Please

It's a good game mechanic, so I don't really care. But. Can anyone come up with a reasonable-sounding explanation for why a stat (Intelligence) that "describes how well your character learns and reasons," and which primarily benefits wizards that spend all of their time in their heads would...

    Grading At-Will Powers

Considering that I'm playing in two campaigns, observing a third, playtesting against different sorts of opponents, and obviously calculating things like DPR, no that's actually not the case. Actually one of the main tests I ran were different level 1 Paladins against a level 6 Cave Bear with...

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

And another thing. The temp hp are much better than healed hp there. If it was just healing, then you could only benefit the party members who were already wounded. Giving temporary hp allows you to help anyone, anytime. Prevention > Cure

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

Getting there ;) Righteous Smite is just filthy, sick, good. Let's you deal 2[w] and potentially save your party 4-6 healing surges? Per encounter? Starting everyone in your party off with an extra 7 or 8 temp hp is ridiculous at third level. It really should be a Daily Power IMO. Heck of a...
