    Break Enchantment question....

You are right that break enchantment has a vague as well as a faulty description of what it can do. However, since the 3.5e PHB description of break enchantment does state that it can "break" instantaneous spells, curses, and effects (effects such as supernatural ability to petrify a foe) such...

    Break Enchantment question....

...By the way if you read the section on Dispel Magic (page 223 on 3.5e PHB), it says that you can not dispel an instantaneous effect and it goes on to specifically cite an example regarding petrification (the very issue we are discussing right now). It is very likely that Gary Gygax et al...

    Break Enchantment question....

No, I think you should read the 3.5e SRD and 3.5e PHB page 207 carefully yourself. It does not say "If the spell is one that, as a special property, cannot be dispelled by dispel magic, break enchantment works only if that spell is 5th level or lower." ...It may for 3.0e PHB...I do not know...

    Break Enchantment question....

Of course break enchantment will work against normal petrification (that is any petrifiction attack that is a supernatural ability)...but I'm arguing that it may not work when used on victims of flesh to stone spell due to level restriction.

    Break Enchantment question....

I think my question still stands... Dispel magic is unable to dispel instantaneous effects...I would extrapolate that fact and go out on a limb and say that break enchantment can only get rid of instantaneous (enchanment, transmutation, and curse) effects of 5th levels and lower and all magical...

    Break Enchantment question....

In the 3.5e PHB (the spells section page 207) under break enchantment, it says it can "reverse even an instantaneous effect, such as flesh to stone." ...it goes on to say that if it is a spell not dispellable by dispel magic then it does not work if it's a spell higher than 5th level...and flesh...

    Fixing The Paladin

Well then a hand of mercy it is...I like that idea! ...now rearranging this idea, you get: Hand of Mercy (Sp): Instead of remove disease 1/week at level 6, the paladin gains the hand of mercy 1/week ability and thereafter this ability replaces the remove disease x/week. When the paladin first...

    Toned down Wounding

so a +5 wounding longsword would cost be really a +8 weapon....due to this very hefty price tag you should be doing 1 to 2 Con damage per round without feeling guilty. In our version of the wounding you pretty much need high enhancement bonuses to really take advantage of wounding which in my...

oops forgot to point out that wounding has a market price of +3 in our campaign.

D&D 3E/3.5 My 3.5 ref sheets. Anyone? Anyone?

Very nice! I was looking for a Angramainyu style of ref sheets, this is perfect! Just a simple question: call me a dunce but how do you use the initiative tracker sheet (last page)?

    Double blades of wounding...

We have a slightly toned down alternative of the wounding property in our campaign. This version sort of helps out the finesse fighters in our campaign due to house feats that help finessed dudes hit better (but still lower damage than brute fighters/barbs). You can find it here.

    Toned down Wounding

I found the Wounding ability very cheap for what it does, especially at high levels. The following is what we use in our campaign. Wounding: This replaces the property listed in the DMG v3.5, on page 226. A wounding weapon deals 1 point of temporary Constitution damage on every attack roll...

    Are duelists overpowered?

In my 2 year stint as finessed fighter type in various classes, i have to agree that they can get their AC high but so can the plate mail + shield guy and the latter will be hitting more often and with harder force at that. I think finessed fighters in 3.5e are short of weak in comparison to...

    Double blades of wounding...

Well...it felt like a classical "short-stopping" encounter, but our "Killer DM (tm)" seeked a pack of werewolves and some werewolf lords on us...we had nowhere to run with wounding on our tail...

    Double blades of wounding...

WOW~ never realized that dire weasels had that ability! Man wait until our nature's band-aid boy...err druid hears of this!! :D Wounding and any no-save ability damage is harmful in high levels and especially so if poisons are also thrown into the fray. Anything can be deadly at high levels...

    Double blades of wounding...

Our DM brought in some never before seen monsters augmented with an extra sword of wounding each using the Two-Weapon Fighting style (think it was a Fiend Folio monster). We faced 3 of these critters and suddenly the issue of the wounding effect came into play. The wounding property as you...
