    Bacon of Hope

But aren't those really more utility uses of bacon? I don't recall many meals where I had bacon all on its own, save at breakfast.

    Bacon of Hope

Meanwhile, Clerics of Veganism must take the "Fakin' Bacon" feat in order to use these powers. Incidentally, since bacon is primarily a breakfast food, I think they should be daily powers. Unless of course you're counting second breakfast, elevensies, etc.

    Has the magic gone?

I've had a very different experience - I've found combats run much smoother and faster now. I did an 18th level combat last night from an adventure converted from the Savage Tide adventure path from Dungeon. I was really impressed, our very first full 4th edition combat lasted 40 minutes or so...

    New Armor and Weapons

So I don't think this has already been mentioned, but the pilum should have a trait of some sort like "Disposable" which renders the weapon useless after being thrown. That was sort of the point of the pilum and all.

    A Dragon Ally?

Sounds like quite the epic confrontation (pardon the pun!). My only thought is to maybe work the dragon in a little bit more. Perhaps instead of fighting in the final encounter though, the dragon makes the final encounter possible. Have your group fighting their way ever closer towards Orcus...

    A Dragon Ally?

Pardon the thread jack, but it's a topic worth talking about. Just to drive home the point, while you might not find gyped offensive, I am going to go out on a limb and say you don't live somewhere that has an active romani population. So while it doesn't seem offensive, yeah, it is. Now on...

    A Dragon Ally?

An important note is that dragons are not by default evil now, even chromatics. While certainly an option to just have it turn on the PCs, I don't think that's your best bet. It will turn them off to skill challenges in the future and leave them feeling disgruntled about their efforts. Having...

How drunk do I get? - need rules for intoxication

This creates the greatest mental image ever. Imagine Conan (the barbarian, not the late-night host) sitting in a bar, growling at someone leering at him and then lifting up a scorpion bowl, moving the huge paper umbrella and knocking it back.

    D&D 4E 4e and 1 combat a day

Need to speed up 4th edition combat? Two words: More. Minions. If you look at the Lord of the Rings films, 4th edition combat can be run in a style similar to the Battle of Helms Deep. What seems to be limitless hordes of enemies, but whom you can tear through individually with relative ease...

    New Monster: Scarecrow

Going off the next suggestion and lowering the Psychic damage to 2, what if I lowered the Weapon resist to 3? Would that put the creature more in line with a normal level 1?

    New Monster: Scarecrow

Hello! So I statted up the Scarecrow featured in Dungeon 154's adventure "Straw Men." Anyone have any critiques or suggestions? I'd appreciate any help anyone would like to offer: Scarecrow Level 1 Lurker (100 XP) Medium Natural Animate (Construct) Initiative: +8 Senses: Perception +6...

    City Ordinance re: ornamental statuary

Back in one of the April Fools issues of Dragon during the 2nd edition run, there were stats for the topiary golem.

    GSL is up

Goodbye and farewell, Book of Erotic Fantasy. We hardly knew ye.

    Flaming Bat, Man!

Technically speaking from what Rodney Thompson had said before on the Paizo message boards, an encounter ends when you say it does: so if the PCs are still on fire when the monsters are dealt with, you can easily rule that a key part of that encounter (being on fire) is still going. Let your PCs...

What's the deal with Shadow Wasp Strike

You may take it if you're only interested in inflicting the highest possible damage you can? Cut and Run is probably a better investment in the long run, but Shadow Wasp Strike is the only 3rd level Encounter Power for Rangers which deals 2x weapon damage.

    Succubus

It is written this way to allow for both to happen - the succubus can either mack on an NPC and use them to block shots or if things are looking grim pucker up to a PC for a round to help buy some time for her escape. Let the Wizard or Ranger take a round of attacks so that when it comes time to...

    Succubus

A great use of her kiss power is not to force the PCs to attack one another, but instead to have the PCs be required to rescue someone. His new lover turns out to be a succubus, but he is unwilling to believe it. If the PCs try to resort to violence, they'll kill their ally as he dives to...

How about a +1 racial bonus on light thrown weapons?

    D&D 4E 4e and save or dies.

So why can't you use these? I know for a fact some of these are rituals from the Monster Manual, so why not use them? With this combination you should have plenty of options - all the cantrips the Wizard has, your at-will Wizard powers, an encounter power, a racial encounter power of your...

D&D 4E 4E, Healing, and Suspension of Disbelief

I mean this in the nicest possible of ways, but I think a better question is have you ever been seriously injured, yourself? I am rather accident prone, and have broken a few bones and busted myself up on a few occasions - when I snapped my ankle I was not only able to walk it off but also drive...
