    D&D 4E Low Magic 4E D&D

I remember seeing something on Gleemax forums but I'm not sure if that had its origins in one of the books or if that was just a homebrew thing. I'd probably do something like this: 2nd level: +1 damage 3rd level: +1 attack 4th level: +1 AC 5th level: +1 NADs (skip 6th) 7th: +2 damage 8th: +2...

    Pure Glow decimates minions?

Be careful adding save vs. death onto auto-damage effects, you don't want to inadvertently make it harder to hit with them than with something that normally requires an attack roll. I think the HP pool idea is the best solution, if you think it's an issue which warrants solving.

How many with a disease can a cleric treat?

I'd say it also depends on whether you're getting help (and whether the help is skilled.) A quickly-drafted assistant who's reasonably healthy but has no other knowledge of medicine can at least follow simple instructions, "apply pressure here! let me know if this one has another spasm!" etc...

Which class/race combo is the best survivor?

"Survival" can have many meanings. Anyone with the Dark Wanderer epic destiny can essentially not die, for example, but they might be rendered useless in any particular combat if they suffer the conditions which would usually cause death.

    Knockout on a Ghost?

Come and Get It is a fundamentally weird power; it's one of the forerunners for "most implausible martial power" in a certain thread I remember from the Gleemax forum. (I wonder if she'll come out of her cocoon on schedule...) A few people raised the point that, by RAW, if a slide or somesuch...

    Radiant and Fire damage

I understand the rules for damage that is "radiant and fire," but how does it work when a creature has resistance of that sort? I can't remember now where I saw it, but I believe I saw a PP or ED somewhere that purported to have a substantial amount of resistance to "fire and radiant" damage. I...

    quick question

Yep, once per level. Theoretically by level 30 you can have all epic feats but ...two, I think? Which can be Paragon, if you like. Edit: Assuming no bonus feats from anything.

Best of the Best - Tactical Warlord.

Yeah, i mean, I'm not criticizing your choice of what to put in the polls, per se. Genasi are good Taclords, but they're certainly not the only option. A lot of people favor Earth ones. (Personally I like the idea of a water Genasi warlord, former ship's captain, perhaps..) I was an old...

Best of the Best - Tactical Warlord.

Eh, my friend has FRPG; between that and compendium I have no problem playing "FR" races. I think of FRPG as a somewhat-overpriced "PHB 1.5". It's annoying that they chose to arrange races that way, but there's no reason Genasi and whatnot can't be used in non-FR campaigns. The DM can say no...

Best of the Best - Tactical Warlord.

Aren't they Planescape? FR just borrowed them and didn't give them back. And now a lot of Planescape things are just getting wrapped into the core setting. FRPG essentially is core; at least, the races and classes. References to Genasi and Swordmages appear in core -- not FR-specfic --...

    Stacking Conditions

I believe this is true; this is how my group's been playing it, anyway. It seems logical--for example, if you get immobilized coz magic chains are holding you down, and you get immobilized coz your legs are frozen stiff, then you need to overcome both of those things before you can once again...

    My Campaign's First Skill Challenge

You've put a lot of work into the dragon skill challenge, and I don't think you should have to scrap it, but what people have said about PCs being unpredictable is true. You may want to make the dragons bigger to start off with, and drop the players a metagaming hint that they probably can't...

    Roleplaying XP

If RP rewards are the only variable-XP present in your game, which is to say, different party members having different amounts of XP, then I'd find something else to reward people with. (If there are other sources of variable-XP, then RP rewards won't have too big an impact on that issue.) I...

What feats need to be added to the game?

I've had the idea to make feats for each class that give you additional power in that class slightly beyond what a normal feat might give, but 'expend' your multiclass credit, and cannot be taken by Hybrids. Essentially, "Class specialization" feats. E.g. for Clerics, for example, you might...

    Masterwork Armor

Are you sure? This, I agree with. I don't see anything in RAW that states you can't have a +6 enchantment on any number of different masterwork-levels of armor. Why anyone would do this is beyond me, and a GM giving out such armor in a parcel would be cruel and unusual--but I can't find the...

What feats need to be added to the game?

I feel that Kip Up should indeed be weaker than the rogue action, but I also agree that it would be nice for non-rogues to have access to this ability without requiring certain boots, or a rogue multiclass. First idea--put a "once per encounter" rider on the "Kip Up" feat. Second idea--scrap...

    Low and no damage characters

Less damage and more resilience/healing may or may not make you more tactically advantageous--the tradeoffs aren't clear. It will, however, make combats take longer...

    DM watch list.

Horizon Walker's "Wandering Action" ability. (Mainly because it assumes you get only 1 AP max per encounter. It should probably have the rider that if you break this rule by some method, such as Warmaster, you can only get one extra AP in this matter per turn. Or per encounter, depending on how...

Move and Charge in the same turn, is that legal?

It's legal. It's kind of strange because it's hard to imagine shifting momentum and getting the full power of your swing within 6 seconds, but it's legal. I think the rules design logic was, it's less complex to allow it than to not allow it. No other action in the game takes both a move AND a...
