Sneak attack/Curse/Quarry damage on a crit?

I think you're paying attention to the wrong part of the faq. If another bonus (like from a weapon or feat) causes you to roll extra damage dice _when_scoring_a_critical_hit_, those dice are rolled as normal Sneak attack etc is not extra damage dice when scoring a critical hit. They are extra...

    Going beyond Grab?

Except that if a character uses their standard and move actions to escape the grab then they aren't moving anywhere else without spending an action point... Nor am I sure that failing to hold a character down easily is a bad thing, especially when PCs are commonly outnumber by a fair degree. If...

Action Points for re-rolls: what breaks?

Depends on the powers involved (or the daily) At low levels for instance Split The Tree does nothing on a miss. Also iirc one of the Ranger Paragon paths lets you reroll on a miss by using an action point so that would need a change if everyone can do it by default.

How can a Fighter get Stoneskin?

Except that you've probably got 2 problems with it. a) I don't think he can use 2 rapiers because they aren't offhand weapons b) If he's using twin strike with melee weapons he's attacking with strength which will reduce his chance to hit.

How bad is the paladin going to be without armor in combat?

How exactly is the Paladin able to contribute to that goal? If combat happens how does a character who normally uses heavy armour play his usual role?

Begging to be errata'd: Archer Ranger At-Wills

As others have pointed out your maths needs to take better account of chance to hit in all cases. True strike does more damage than a basic attack in all circumstances unless you get a very high dex or additional damage on basic attacks from items. ignoring hunters quarry With a 50% chance to...

    What would you have done?

It depends a bit on what you have available. It might well be worth eating an OA to get a ranged attack on a rat which is probably a minion so if you can take it out you can get a bullrush and open up some maneuvering space.

Characters of War up at Wizards

Yeah, but you are dropping another skill to get it. I don't see it as equivalent to a feat and, in many cases, if I was GMing and a player asked me to swap a skill like that I'd allow it anyway.

Characters of War up at Wizards

There are very few of these backgrounds that are worth 2-3 feats. Most of them add skills to your class skill list, they do _not_ give you training in the skill. Some of them give +3 to a skill which is equivalent to Skill Focus (and would stack with it) others give you +1 to 2 skills which is...

Characters of War up at Wizards

    a) You don't have to be a dwarf to pick up the background b) If you want to make normal gear the way that those rules do it (pay full price and get the gear) I can't see a DM having a problem with it.

    Vision and Light Question

There are some dungeons with low light (some natural caves are given as examples) and there you can lag behind the rest of the group and try and hide but generally I don't think it's a bit plus in dungeons.

D&D 4E Forked Thread: 4e And 4th Wall, was multiclassing - is Arcane Initiate too powerful?

Mostly forced movement and effects. the classical example is an ooze being knocked prone. A lot of that depends on how you describe things. A rogue shifting a dragon could be feinting a movement and the dragon moves to block where he thinks you're going. In terms of particular monsters taking...

    Vision and Light Question

Low light is a way of moving through the wilderness without making it blindingly apparent you're coming. My elven ranger uses it for scouting. It's not overly useful in dungeons currently on what I've seen.

    Bugbears as PCs balanced??

Not IMO. If somebody wants to play a monstrous race that is typically an enemy of the local civilisation then the player shouldn't be surprised if the pc faces up to hostility. How much hostility is open to question and will vary from place to place. (A drow would probably get more hostility...

Power level of At-will power from second class?

I'd say there are problems with that feat. I don't know how bad it'd be in most cases but it'd be pretty damned tempting for my elven archer ranger with 20 dex and 10 str to burn it to get a rogue at will and attack in hth with dex... Without a lot of experience in 4th ed yet the rest is...

    Combat very swingy

I've so far only played at low levels and there I think it's less swingy than earlier editions. In part because characters are harder to take down so a bit of good luck for the monsters or bad luck for the PCs is less likely to take somebody out completely. Then again it's probably less bad...
