    CoC Spells in d20 Modern

I'm using Coc magic for D20 Modern and it works great. By great I mean the pcs are hesitant to use it. They are hesitant to use it because 1. I changed the names of all the spells so they can't easily read about them. 2. Describe the components and rituals and a vague notion of what it...

    Sniper Rifles (Snipers in general)

Actually irl Snipers tend to operate in scout/sniper teams. One does the shooting while the other assists spotting targets, range finding, calculating windage and providing perimeter security. So the assist other action would be both legal in game terms and in keeping with reality. More info...

    Intelligence and Npc photos

I second the imdb.com for pictures. Be careful though, it is easy to typecast actors/npcs giving away plot lines. The pcs in my game encountered an undercover neo-necromancer. I whip out a picture of Christoper Walken. Metagaming be damned! The jig was up, initiatives are rolled, baddy...

    t20 minor complaints

One nice thing about D20 is the more modular nature of the rules. If you hate psionics in T20 drop them out and use rules from 3E, Spycraft, D20 Modern, Coc D20. whatever fits better in your game. Unrelated subject. Chondu is your picture dealy Jamer Coburn as Steiner from Sam Peckinpah's...

    Modern Subgun movies

What I found most interesting was the differance in recoil between the G3 (longone that kept climbing to the right) and the MP5. Also the Tmp tends to climb. I now understand why most modern assault rifles are switching from FA to three shot burst mode. Autofire rules make more sense now to.

    Modern Subgun movies

Here are some movies of the G36, MP5, Steyr TMP, and M-16 varients some of which are firing using suppressors. Good example of how to describe the sounds and actions in game. http://www.airsoftplayers.com/extreme/

    Q re: handgrenades

Okay. I just say the show mail call on the history channel. You know the one where R. Lee Ermey, former marine and actor famous for his drill sergent roles takes questions of a military nature. Some one wrote in asking about how hand grenades work. He went to Fort Benning Georgia and talked...

    Point well taken, Takyris.

    Q re: handgrenades

I don't know about being deathly afraid of negative modifiers. I don't know about throwing rubber hockey pucks on ice. I just think a 20' blast radius with a 10' range increment is a bit off. It doesn't matter much considering grenades aren't finesse weapons.

    Q re: handgrenades

My concern was that unless you were suicidal or throwing around a corner the grenade couldn't be thrown without a minimum -2 penalty unless you had the far shot feat. Of course there isn't the thrown weapon prof required so no -4 penalty. I've made peace with this rule/range increment thingy...

    Q re: handgrenades

Frag Grenades range increment is 10 feet. Blast radius 20 feet. Does anyone else see a problem with this?

    Tips for a fledgling DM?

You might check out this site. 1. http://www.dmshaven.freeservers.com/advice.html This is my friends site. His games are always fun. His Kung fu is strong. Give it a read. I would also recomend the "How to run a game session" sections from Unknown Armies and Spaceship Zero.

    Nocturnum (might contain slight spoliers)

Thirdfloor Fellowship should not read this! Short version: I Replaced Nyarlahotep with Stepehn Alziz, the Kchtoma with Delta Green, and the Twilight Queen becomes an avator of Shub-Niggurath. The Tribunal are products of a joint effort between Shkryth and Karotechia. Nazi Clone assassins...

    Nocturnum (might contain slight spoliers)

I ran a hybrid Delta Green/nocturnum game. I started the 4 Pc's at 3rd level. Overall I liked many of the ideas and settings. I ended up butchering the book, cutting out the fat and keeping the lean yet juicy parts. No Cr's are a problem, but I've found Cthulhu doesn't really follow the...

Must see movie for D20 Modern.

I liked all the little character developement. The fireside chat when they talk about fear, and the Sgt's story of his friends tattoo just clicked in my mind. "This would be great flavor to inject into a Modern/COC game I'm running. Or the zoologists short bit on the blurring of myth and...

Must see movie for D20 Modern.

    COC: Nocturnum

I'm running 4 players through a fusion of Nocturnum and Delta Green Countdown. Things I like: Interesting settings including a monastery in the hills, an offshore oil rig, a college town. Interesting cast of characters, former green beret/cia guy, immortal observers. Enough leeway to...

New Coc GM seek a little help...

Couple of resources worth mentioning, you will need to do the conversions, but for a begining GM that may help familiarize you with rules and npc capability. 1. Nightmares of mine-by Kenneth Hite. A generic break down of horror elements. A quick reading 158 pages. Very useful for...

    Fantasy Flight Games D20 Nocturnum

I've been using the old school version and picked up the D20 at the Con. Overall it is pretty nice. Really geared for higher level investigators(4th). There are ample handouts for cutting or copying in the rear. The scenarios range from plain vanilla to sardonic. Rather than use existing...
