    Info on American States?

California: Yes they are crazy, and its infectious. I have relatives who moved out there and more than one has gone crazy. Earthquakes. Frequently. Why do people choose to live somewhere like that? South Carolina: One of the most depressingly desolate places I have ever driven through...

    PDFs - Does size matter?

I know that we have begun creating smaller pdf's because they seem to sell as well as, or better than, the larger ones. People seem to like have something small and concise for reading and printing. Smaller pdfs take much less time to edit, layout, and in general, produce. This means that a...

This would be a excellent thread to learn about some quality pdfs that I was not involved in :)

    Do book delays hurt sales?

I think that a short delay is acceptable, but extended delays hurt. I would rather have a book delayed a month than it have an errata/typo sheet longer than my arm (see most of WoTC books lately).

d20 Publishers Who Have NOT Given Up Yet...

We at Alea Publishing Group are still slaving away. In fact, we just released Poor Gamers Alamanc (free e-zine where I did a nice Pirate PrC) and have Whisper of Horses (paid d20M module) slated for December. Warden, contact me off boards, I want to talk to you some about the e-zine we have...

Technical thread for Server Discussion (merged)

Has anyone considered cacheing (something like Squid) the non-dynamic pages? I know the forums need to stay dynamic, but the front page (and several other high traffic pages) don't change often enough to warrant being completely dynamic. Cacheing those pages will/should have a significant...

    Let's Talk Shop

I will attempt to drop by. I think this holds a great amount of potential for smaller publishers. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Jason, its nice to see that there are other business students in the business. I was feeling lonely. This is a market that seems to scare...

    Spiked Chain wielder?

PsyWar would also give you Stand Still which can prevent people from getting within your reach. Combine it with a high dex and combat reflexes and nothing will touch you in melee.

[Necro] Judges Guild classic products now available on DTRPG!

Clark, I knew I could count on you to take care of your customers. NG definately is top notch with customer service. Hellhound, I think you can still order the maps from somewhere pretty cheap. I know I saw them a while back for sale.

[Necro] Judges Guild classic products now available on DTRPG!

Clark, There was a review yesterday about Tegel not having the GM's map included. Is this true? If so, will it be included or posted somewhere? Tegel would be a bit tough to run or read without the GM's map. I have not bought, but do plan to buy, Tegel (and others).

    Brainstorming a Knightly campaign.

This may sound like a shameless plug (maybe...?) but we do something very similar in our Guidebook series. "A Question of Honor: A Guidebook to Knights" and "A Question of Loyalty: A Guidebook to Military Orders". We have an entire setting in Honor called the Hill Lands. It is overrun with...

    Min/Max explination

As long as the powergamer/munchkin/min-maxer RP's, I have never really cared. I have been called all of these things, usually by someone who thinks that we should all just sit in town and RP for 10x the sessiosn that we actually kill stuff. These people look down on anyone who can do math to...

    Banking?

    Does it pay to publish?

I won't get into specific numbers, but I haven't quit my dayjob selling pdf's. I would be suprised to see more than a handfull of pdf sellers make 35k profit per year. I have seen the prices on pdf sales, I have checked on costs for art, layout, writers, RPGNow's cut, etc and it would take a...

Old Judges Guild products available at DTRPG

IIRC, when Tegel came up on the NG boards, it was mentioned that some time in the past the rights to do a reprint were given to another company. That company then claimed they were given complete rights. Now the person who claims to have the rights is dead (I think) the new owners of the...

    WOTC trading card games patent?

You should follow paintball. One group patented the use of a "switch" in the electronic guns. People can patent just about anything. It is up to the people they sue over infringement to argue that the patent is not valid.
