    Monte's AU races

Good show, Monte! I am very thankful that Arcana Unearthed is going to break out of the old "dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings" mold. I can't express just how sick of that I am. I couldn't care less about the revised D&D books. My money is going for Arcana Unearthed!

[WOTC] Revised Corebooks for July confirmed with info

I must admit that I get a cheap laugh out of imagining how much errata is going to be needed for this 960-page behemoth.

    [WFRP] Hogshead Closes Doors

Pretty soon I'm going to dive into De Profundis. Talk about possibilities! First I'm going to have to get a post office box, just in case any Cthulhu scholar decides to take things a little too seriously. For gamers such as myself, who don't get a chance to game much, De Profundis is a godsend...

    More reasons to love Monte

I can't get over how cool Arcana Unearthed sounds. I hope we can convince KDLadage and crew to make Umbragia a stand-alone OGL game. :)

    More reasons to love Monte

KDLadage, I almost instantly thought of Umbragia when I read about Arcana Unearthed yesterday. I heartily encourage you to release Umbragia as an OGL stand-alone RPG. You have a buyer right here. :)

    More reasons to love Monte

After reading the FAQ on this, I'm at least 95% sure I'm going to buy this. I especially like the following: 1. no cliched dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings (I can't tell you how tired I am of these guys.) 2. no alignment 3. a unified spell list 4. non-Vancian magic system

This sounds like it might be my cup of tea. :)

    The Elements of Magic

Will this product completely replace the spells in the Players Handbook, or will it simply change the way those spells are used? Either way, this sounds intriguing.

    Kalamar Atlas Web Preview posted

Good. This sounds like a must-buy. I own the original Kingdoms of Kalamar boxed set, and the atlas sounds like it will be 100% compatible with it.

    Kalamar Atlas Web Preview posted

Is this product pure atlas, or does it also have d20 rules in it?

FFG Mythic Races - to buy or not to buy?

Also, don't forget the awesome races of Umbragia. And, best of all, it's free! Here's the link: http://www.d20reviews.com/jagged/umbragia/v01-races.html

Looking for an alternate magic system...

I think I might know of just the thing you're looking for: The Elements of Magic The Elements of Magic is a rules module designed to replace the "fire and forget" spell system of the d20 Core Rules. The d20 spell system, while balanced and usable, is not flexible enough to model the magic...

If there was one thing about 3rdE that you could change, what would it be?

Would the following work for both those who want classless and those who want the traditional archetypes? Make the system classless. Make it a point-buy system so you could make any type of character you want. ("Hmmm. I want a sword-wielding mage who is expert in healing spells.") Then, in the...

    d20 CoC--a preview of 4th Edition D&D?

Some posters in this thread suggested that if character classes or alignment were taken out of 4E, it wouldn't be D&D. Let me quote Administrator Grazzt from the same thread I quoted in my post right above this. (His post is in response to someone saying that alignment is essential to D&D.)...

    d20 CoC--a preview of 4th Edition D&D?

I was looking through the thread entitled "If there was one thing about 3rdE that you could change, what would it be?" On the fourth page of that thread the moderator Dinkeldog summed up the thread rather nicely: "Notice that almost all of the recommendations here move 4E even further away from...

    d20 CoC--a preview of 4th Edition D&D?

Thank you, Thorvald Kviksverd, for emphasizing the wording in my original post. I'm simply wondering out loud if Monte Cook (who is one of the designers of 3E and also the designer of d20 CoC) might have some thoughts or insights into where the 3E game is headed, which will probably one day...

    d20 CoC--a preview of 4th Edition D&D?

Unlike 3E, d20 Call of Cthulhu doesn't include the following things that I've seen a number of 3E fans gripe about: 1. character classes (Characters are all skill-based.) 2. attacks of opportunity 3. a division between arcane and divine spells (There's a single, unified spell list.) 4...

Castle Greyhawk - Hackmaster or d20

The Dungeons of Castle Greyhawk wouldn't feel right in d20. Gary himself has said that. I own HackMaster and think it's really cool. If I scoffed at it and played only OAD&D, I would still buy Castle GreyHack, but I'd just convert it to OAD&D. Converting from HM to OAD&D can be done on the fly...

    AD&D First Edition inferior?

Merric, I'm referring to the 64-page Basic rulebook and the 64-page Expert rulebook (both published in 1981) considered as a unit. Sorry to be unclear. :)
