    Besm or Besm d20?

I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test either, but from what I've read and played through them, I'll go w/ BESM original. I don't mind the concept of BESMd20, but some of the attempts to fit the original system into d20 rules fell flat to me. In particular, the armor seems overpowered, any...

Which PrCl would you never want in your game? (part 2 - CArc)

I went with Elemental Savant. I love the PrC in general, but I thought the CA version nerfed it too much. I can understand a reduction in Elemental Focus considering that's been the design philosophy of 3.5 in general, and the second lost caster level is painful but acceptable, but forcing the...

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

How? The mob has a collective Will save as a 30 HD monster. And these are people worked up in a bloodlusted killing frenzy to the point where they ignore pain and certain death. That'd be a hell of a diplomacy roll.

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Yes, but I was working on the assumption that it was just the typical "takes 50% more damage" rule, as I believe this is how it worked in the Dungeon article the template originally came from. The 50% rule doesn't seem to reflect the scope of damage a bunch of 1 HD creatures take when bathing...

Most (and least) interesting RPG books to read?

I enjoy reading the old Toon books. I'll probably never play a detective or Call of Cthulu Toon game, but just reading on how to make them funny is good for a laugh.

    Wizardru's Story Hour (updated 11/21)

"Do you want to take levels in alienist?" "No, why?" "Because asking that question is a good way to start that path." "Asking if meeting Bolo would solve the requirement for becoming an alienist is solving the requirement for becoming an alienist?" "Makes sense to me!"

    Wizardru's Story Hour (updated 11/21)

Interesting. Do you have the Book of Exalted Deeds and/or use the Deathless? I was just wondering if you exercised that option and how it would effect this aspect of the campaign.

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

I'm starting to feel bad about this. I know that discussing the mob template is technically on topic, but it feels like hijacking to focus on such a small percentage of the book. Still, I suppose it makes sense until more people buy it, since we at least have some basic understanding of this...

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Oh, I see the value of a mob template, I just think this goes too far in the other direction. Creating a bunch of mobs to represent an army of 1,000s or even 100 of units is reasonable to me. A "mob" of twelve ogres isn't. No, the % is simply based on a casualty rate. A high level fighter...

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

Potentially, when within the context of a mob versus one high-level fighter. When magic and monsters are factored in, it remains just as absurd. With these rules, fifty-some commoners with no training, weaponry, or exceptional traits could defeat gigantic monsters and even landed dragons...

    DMG II -- In my hands . . .

It sounds like I'll be disappointed with the mob template again. I had issues with it from the Dungeon article and it sounds like it hasn't changed much from there. I understand using variant rules for hp and damage when we have thousands of insects or vermin, and it would make sense for...

    Wizardru's Story Hour (updated 11/21)

What about those 3-in-1 undead the church of Wee Jas gave you a while back? Granted, I think most of them died anyway, but from the bad guys. Besides, don't you have some semi-friendly undead in your family tree?

    Wizardru's Story Hour (updated 11/21)

Ouch, a riddle. This thing could take a while... :) And what was with the splatbook feat-hate, anyway? The library monsters sounded interesting. Do you know what the deal with the librarian or the golem was? And for that matter, if the librarian was evil?

Consequences of the Quill (Restored 5/13/06)

The Truth: The Revelation of the Keeper After their success at the Eye (and their defeat as well, though they didn’t know it yet,) the party took a few days to rest. Of course, they had an audience with the king and queen of Methosilang, where they told the tales of their latest adventure...

What is your favorite rpg/supplement for humor?

Do you remember that adventure "module" they made years ago that was nothing but endless pages of backstory that forced the characters to do incredibly stupid things? I found it hilarious back in the day.

Immersed in Lava - Have you ever seen it?

I'm not positive, but if you're immune to fire damage, doesn't that immunity affect your equipment as well? It would be pretty useless otherwise.

What is your favorite rpg/supplement for humor?

I agree on Toon; I have to play that one again, as it's been a while. Big Eyes Small Mouth works well for humor, and I miss the days of Teenagers From Outer Space and the original Late Late Show. The varoius Inner City Fuzzy games were good for a convention laugh, as well. And I'm not sure if...

Reality in fantasy... how much is too much?

A lot of physics problems can be removed if one just assumes that since the gods of creation clearly like big monsters and such, they came up with a more efficient method of musculature advancement that negates the square/cube rule. I know that's the first thing to go if I was a god. I hate...

    Wizardru's Story Hour (updated 11/21)

Hahahahaha! Was that actually said? And Dravot? Spent time at the ER? For kidney stones?! And then went right back to game!?! That's commitment.

How Far Behind is Your Story Hour?

I was two years behind when I started my SH, so it took forever to catch up. I'm now just about one adventure behind, though said adventure took about three months of bi-weekly games to complete.
