    So what's YOUR world's 'hook'?

step 1 - humanity screws up step 2 - gods take one part humanity, one part desolate desert planet; stir step 3 - gods remove magic from said world; have a good chuckle step 4 - bake in the sun for a couple thousand years, or until medium brown. step 5 - play begins step 6 - magic returns step 7...

    Alignment issues

I wrote a huge post about it, but instead I'll just summarise the points without going into long reasons why. 1 - alignment issues really need to be hammered out between players and DMs 2 - in the real world and in games: people can't convince eachother that "I am right and you are wrong" about...

Limiting Polymorph in a sensible way

I'd be tempted to say that you could only harvest say, 1d6 focus per animal or something. or whatever, just something ahead of time so the PCs don't shave a bear and try to get rich pawning off its' fur as 500 different polymorph focus :D edit: really like the idea, i'm considoring yoinking...

Limiting Polymorph in a sensible way

a few thoughts (which may be easily hammered out :) ) first - I don't think it seems "in character" for a druid to run around killing off animals so they have a bit of it so they can change into one. Maybe druids can use something like some braided fur, sluffed off skin (for reptiles that shed...

    Silly Monsters

the Miniature Giant Space Hampster is my favorite rediclous monster. on the subject of giffs - I always pictured them as something of being british hunters. I could easily see a giff expidition to a distant sphere where they hunt local critters, and have tea time and what not. "oh, jolly good...

why the attraction to "low magic"?

I agree. I was just saying: "If you are powerful and have something a wizard would want, why wouldn't you have anti-scrying devices and anti-teleport devices set up around you?" -I can't think of a reason that someone would purposefully leave such a wide avenue of danger open if they could...

    Any variant Druid classes?

maybe I'm confused.. I was origonally writing about the True Druid posted by The Great Bear King. was that a class you made? I think the ramifications of taking everything good from a wizard and slapping it onto a slightly weaker druid are pretty huge, and I don't think you could come up with...

    Suggestion Sucks

I'm just going to mention this again, because it seems to be causing you the most trouble. The spells primary controlling factor is not "reasonable". The spells primary controlling factor is "sounds reasonable". big difference - it's all in the wording. Re-read the spell in the PHB. EDIT...

    Suggestion Sucks

I agree with you that this is not how the spell is intended to work, unless your character is always blindly charging into stupid situations. A command spell makes you drop everything and do just the one word command, suggestion doesn't seem to. I don't mean to say "the mind flayer says XXX"...

Bringing back old product lines as one-shot books

it would seem that between Defilers & Preservers and the 2nd Darksun boxed set I missed a huge amount of changes to my old favorite... maybe i'll buy the pdfs to look them over heh. that's about how i feel.

    Any variant Druid classes?

perhaps I'm just being very slow this morning - what does this have to do with what i posted about the True Druid class being overpowered?

    Any variant Druid classes?

if i'm reading it right - it's a gesalt druid/wizard as far a spells per day, and spell selection goes? way too powerful. if they shared both spell lists and one spells per day table, maybe (though why anyone would choose anything else with the best of all right there one would wonder)... if...

    Suggestion Sucks

Knowing he's likely a paladin, and likely is interested in smiting evil and saving his friends the illithid suggests: "The only way to kill me is using an artifact stashed back up the tunnel." Knowing this the paladin will realise, "it's the only way to kill him, I'd better get that artifact...

    Suggestion Sucks

I think it's reasonable to allow someone playing a character with 25 int some slack in exact wording of things. It's safe to assume that 19 - 25 int is likely more intelligent than most people at the table, so it's safe to assume that a being of that intelligence could think up something we...

why the attraction to "low magic"?

I agree with you that it's not the flavor I prefer, but it just begs for someone to say something along the lines of: "If there aren't anti-scry spells in place, or anti-magic spells in place, couldn't a powerful wizard just scry-buff-port assassinate anyone they wanted? wouldn't there be no...

When did the wild west stop being cool?

on a brief google search: from: Here validity of information is only as good as the site I quoted from, so it is largely questionable until varified or denied by someone who knows better :) EDIT: a museum site backs up at least the origon of the name: from: Dodge City Visitor Guide

    SpellJammer

Wish I could tell you, but I got out of buying the mags for a long time (as I found that I'd read through all of them, had a decent collection of old ones, etc but never used them). All these threads about the Spider Moon and Darksun conversions are making me want to go buy those issues though :x

Bringing back old product lines as one-shot books

No, I haven't. I read about it having paladins and sorcerers and I threw up my hands in disgust as a knee-jerk reaction :) Rajaat, ah, I was close and both spellings could be pronounced quite similarly heh to be picky - new sorcerer-king is impossible unless he has power from a different...

Bringing back old product lines as one-shot books

    - the first bit is what i'd be worried about, and probably the section of the book I'd ignore. I've never been a fan of "official advancing time lines" that have massive world altering effects. But, that's probably just me, and those bits are easily ignored (i have the origonal flavor elements...
