    Words you learned through D&D

I'm Italian, too, and I share the same feelings. Actually, I'm a bit surprised that so many native English speaking people found so many obscure words in D&D books and modules. I mean, I had of course lots of problems translating the books (not easy to translate from one language to another...

A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

That's a mistake, because while "caput" is correct latin for "head", "therianthropos" is actually GREEK (from "therion", "wild animal", and "anthropos", "man")!! The fact that "therianthropos" is even inflected to "therianthropi" for the plural, in the latin way, adds a mistake over a mistake. :D:D

I've got the D&D Spell Compendium- Any questions?

I see this book as a good "collective Xmas present" for a gaming group. Everybody shares the price and then you have only one spell reference book to carry around (or even leave in the house of the player hosting the game session). Besides that, I'm quite pissed off by the lack of spell lists...

    Incarnum interest level?

I bought the book and I'm still "digesting" it. All in all, I most like the new alternative system. What the book lacks, IMVHO, is some flavour. I don't want Incarnates to be just "wizards that materialize magic items". I think I'll have the players "customize" the look and feel of their...

    couple of RotS questions (spoilers)

Pardon my little nitpicking. In this thread it has been used the term "Immaculate Conception" to refer to the fact that Anakin was supposedly conceived without a father. That's a mistake. In Christian religions Immaculate Conception means being born WITHOUT THE WEIGHT OF THE ORIGINAL SIN, it...

How does a lich heal himself?

Exactly. Intelligent undead heal "unnaturally" just as living creatures do. They need to rest and wait. Of course this is not to be intended as a biological process, but if negative energy gives them the power to move, speak, see, tink and stuff, why shouldn't it give them the power to mend...

Cheesy old genre movies that you like anyway

Pardon? I am Italian, and, of course, quite an expert about Bud Spencer (Carlo Pedersoli) and Terence Hill (Mario Girotti) and I'm quite sure there are only two Trinity films, namely "Lo chiamavano trinità" and "Continuavano a chiamarlo Trinità". (well, I don't count "Trinità & Bambino... e...

How much does a backpack hold?

Just another little question before I can tell my friend the official answer :) Is this from the 3.0 book or the 3.5? Has it been changed? Thank you very much for your answers :)

How much does a backpack hold?

Are you talking about a "normal" backpack in the REAL world or is this what the book says?

How much does a backpack hold?

I was a little surprised when a friend told me that the 3.5 PH had no indication on the maximum capacity of a backpack. Well, I had to admit that he was right, or, at least, I have not been able to find it anywhere in the SRD (don't have the actual book with me right now) except a general note...

Can a Wizard make a Healing Spell?

the *only* acceptable motivation is... game design. Bards HEAL, and they are ARCANE casters. So it all resolves on how much you want to enforce D&D "tradition" and stereotypes.

Why we love D&D but hate d20

My take: I NEVER liked AD&D really. I always favored OD&D decause I felt the advanced version was too clumsy and full of exceptions and conflicting things and... weel you know. Sure I played it, but whenever I got some source material that I liked I tried to stuff it in the OD&D rules. That...

    Miniature Handbook release date

Casting a spell is an action that causes an AoO. It doesn't matter whether you move before or after the actual "release" of the spell, it still does provoke an AoO. The only way to cast without incurring in an AoO when starting in a threathened square is moving a 5 ft step which takes you out...

Eric Boyd's pdf of converted Forgotten Realms mosters

On EN's news page I read on Saturdays about "Eric Boyd's pdf of converted Forgotten Realms monsters". I looked for it on Wizards' site, but I could not find it. Can somebody tell me where I can get it, please? Thx.

    (OT) Any vegans out there?

Problem is both meat and vegetables are not entirely adequated for humns. It's true, we're omnivorous, so we can eat a bit of everything, but we don't have teeth to grind bones or cut tissues, nor we have intestines suited to process platns efficiently. Man is a hunter-gatherer animal. Our...

    (OT) Any vegans out there?

Just a little note. I had a friend that used to study medicine at university. She rounded her money by tar time working in a Chemical company, and she was to oversee the mineral and protein integrators. Well, she told me the raw materials for those products are taken from dried dead animals...

    Worst 3.5 Change

Well. I like mount this way more than the old. Yes, it reeks of Poke all he way, but it's less intrusive. Many times I did not play a Paladin because my DM told us it was going to be a very dungeon-heavy campaign (we discuss the general theme of a campaign before starting, so that everybody...

    Compiled 3.5 Revisions

Yes. Oriental Adventures introduced the mechanic and the rationale under it. If the power is combat and weapon related then has a plus equivalence. If the power is bestowed on the person (like Fly for example) then it's just like having an ordinary magic item, and it just costs money. I don't...

    Worst 3.5 Change

Aw ok. My fault. You've been here quite longer than me so I think you know other users better :D:D I assumed the tone of that post to be rude actually. If it was not I apologize. :) :)

    Worst 3.5 Change

Bull. The plural of ninja is ninja. You see, it's Japanese not Latin. 2 VERY different languages. jedi is an invented word AFAIK, so singular and plural can be anything Lucas wants. BTW, if it were Latin the singular would probably be "jedum", not "jedium" because the latter's plural should be...
