Hit Points, the DM or the players?

My DM has me and the other four Players keep track of our own damage. In our group, this sometimes encourages roleplaying. Like after a battle, when the guy running the cleric asks in-character who is hurt and how bad, and we each interpret the severity of our character's damage in the way we...

[OT, Humor] The world should be made aware of this conversation.

Haha, that was funny. :] Strangely, it reminded me of a DM I once gamed with. (This was an RPG played at a table, mind you--not over the internet.) Here's a portion of that game... DM: As you step from the woods, you see in the distance a wall. Me: What kind of wall? DM: A wall. Me: What...

    church-going commoners; magical tombstones

When a visitor touches the tombstone and speaks the dead person's name, they can hear his or her voice telepathically. The voice always says something kind and reassuring. Flowers left at the grave wilt slowly, often taking one full month to completely wilt. When a blood-relative of the dead...

The Elf found a secret door.

Hey, we're experienced adventurers. We stay FAR away from that gnome when he's trap-checking. After all, a whole corridor almost fell on our heads once. Once bitten, twice shy, as they say. Or, rather, once sprayed by acid, stay twice as distant. :] Tony M

The Elf found a secret door.

Haha, I like that. :] There's a gnome Rogue in my party. In dungeons, he tends to scout ahead of the party, checking corridors for traps. Next time we hit a suspicious-looking corridor, I think I'll say to my DM, "We GNOME the corridor"... :] Tony M

    What is your favorite monster?

Jermlaine: because they'll do fun stuff to captured PCs...like shave off their eyebrows and vandalize their equipment. Orcs: because I bought a ton of orc miniatures, and a ton of anything on the tabletop looks pretty frikkin cool. Kappas (from Oriental Adventures): they always kicked butt...

What makes a fantasy 'journey' truly epic?

If my character passed through an area that nobody in their right mind would pass through, I'd say 'that' part of the journey would be epic-like. Even if, afterwards, there were no battles to speak of. Like crossing a vast toxic swamp capable of draining a little Constitution every day...

(OT) What to do with an insane cat?

If the chair that the cat hides under is one of those chairs with a dust-ruffle-thing at the bottom--making it so the cat can't see out from under the chair very well--you might consider pinning up an area of the ruffle so the cat can see out. And if the chair sits low, you might consider...

Ever gotten 'emotional' over a game event?

Wow--the party is down, bleeding, except for the Thief...and he picks up two weapons he isn't proficient with...to fight against a DEMON...and you roll TWO 20s! And kill it! Awesome! I'm on the edge of getting emotional over THAT right now. :] Tony

Something humorously unhappy in last night's game.

Oh, I think I get the it now. Poor gnome! :-O It's tough for a PC to survive when his player seems determined to get him killed. Hmm. Here's an idea for the DM... Instead of giving Ted/Ted's PC more reasons to hate the NPC, maybe give Ted/Ted's PC some excellent reasons to like the...

Something humorously unhappy in last night's game.

So....the NPC that annoys the heck out of Ted in Campaign 1 reappears in Campaign 2 and immediately singles out Ted's character for torture? :-O Poor Ted! Sounds like a really fun follow-up campaign, though. :] Tony M

Anybody Becoming a Fast Forward Lifer?

I don't know how many books they do per year or their prices, but if they did six books at $25 per book per year like you guessed, I think it would be around 13 years to break even, not three. I'm only trying to be helpful...in case somebody was about to part with their 2K thinking 3 years...

Dungeon magazine says maybe more vile. Huzzah!

I like that the BOVD is used in the campaign I'm playing in. A lot of that "vile" stuff is scary. And being scared in a dungeon is fun. For example, my Fighter/Paladin ran into an evil cleric not long ago, and THAT was scary. The cleric had a weird demonic arm grafted in place of a regular...

Your opinions on a monster book idea

I like the B&W white option. It would allow a DM to print-out a bunch of B&W ethradiblexi (or whatever) and then quickly color each one a different color with watercolor markers--this for the purpose of keeping track of which ethradiblek is which. DM: "Which ethradiblek did you swing at? The...
