    Monster HP question

Well, there's a couple problems with that. How is the wizard going to know they're Kobold Minions and not Kobold Skirmishers? Instead of describing the creature, just say "You are attacked by a Kobold Minion(tm)?" One example given somewhere (some WoTC blog) on keeping players on their toes...

    D&D 4E 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

Firstly, my main (not fear, perhaps qualm) is keeping track of marking and status effects. An article at the wizards site already offers strategies for keeping track of these things with minis - and that does seem to present a problem to those of us who are more imagination oriented than grid...

    Warlove? Warhate?

The Warlord seems very useful for large parties. In a smaller party, perhaps not useful at all. But many of the abilities are quite nice.

    Too much?

Raiders of Oakhurst (reloaded, at least) features 2 trap/combat encounters in the Stone Table dungeon alone. A pit trap/ambush by kobolds and a crushing boulder/ambush by hobgobby archers.

    Excerpt: Paragon paths (merged)

The paladin paragon path is amazing... saving throw rerolls for all allies, allies immune to charm and fear, using an action point weakens all adjacent enemies. Crazy!

Int and Skills: What we know its not.

Have we actually seen a rogue pregen or actual rogue info? I was under the impression what we had so far on rogues is incomplete and compiled by community sources.

    AoE and Concealment

I don't think you can choose which targets to roll against in an AOE, there are just modifiers to how well you can hit them. Like, if Fred the fighter was behind a pillar you might not be able to hit him. And certain powers say targets adjacent "enemies", which would seem to rule out friendly...

    AoE and Concealment

But it still requires to-hit rolls... Meaning there's a decent chance even completely visible kobolds might be missed. So it makes since that kobolds who can't be seen would enjoy a defense bonus. I haven't looked at the young black dragon stats recently, but it does mention that if it is in...

Monsters are more than their stats

Personally, I think it's horrible design to just expect the players to consult the monster manual to figure their way out of any problem. We may disagree on this, but there should be a place for constructive storytelling, where a DM can tell a story of his own without just copying something...

Will CON become a dump stat?

I agree, but I think it's sensible. A big part of Dex was the fact that wizards ran out of spells so easy. Then they had to have a good dexterity score in order to hit anything with their thrown dagger/crossbow/what have you. Allowing them to use "cleverness" as a means of dodging attacks...

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

That's exactly right. I'm just going to go ahead and assume the +1 threshold ogres with +3 greatswords getting +3 to hit/damage was a type-o... So I hope that wasn't a real excerpt from the DMG, but just a guy typing it up real fast and not paying attention to his own math.

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

The confusion is from the paragraph that states 8 level ogre savages, with a +1 threshold, receive a +3 to hit and +3 to damage from a +3 greatsword. It seems to defy the rules. Is it a typo, or is there a +1 hit/damage bonus to using 2-handed weapons, or something else?

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

It was an article on customizing monsters. Therefore, it's reasonable to discuss customization rules on monsters since, well, that's what the article was about. What I'm trying to figure out is why a monster with a +1 threshold gets +1 from a +2 mace (that makes sense) but +3 from a +3...

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

That was me... My actual post was inquiring as to why ogre savages only get +1 bonus from a +2 magic club, since they have threshold +1, but are then quoted as getting +3 from +3 greatswords with a threshold +1. It seemed contradictory. I then observed, in an edit, that the article states...

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

Yes, the 11th level monster would have +3 to hit (1 per level) and +1 to damage (+1/2 level). But I'm referring to the part that talks about their bonuses resulting from the use of enchanted items. If these 11th level beasties were using the +3 greatswords they would get an additional +1 to...

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

I'm sure someone well tell me I've overlooked something, but there's what seems to be a big inconsistency around the middle of the page, talking about monster magic threshhold. In one paragraph, it says "For example, if you give that 8th-level ogre savage a +2 magic greatclub, you add only a...

Powers, Feats, Abilities by level: My Best Guess

The yellow (do you mean orange?) and whiteish are easiest to read, I think. The green is pretty easy too. The blue's a little rough on the eye, but still very readable.

Tnx for putting that chart together... Lots of theorizing since the Tier release at the website, but this is the first compilation of it I've seen.

Too soon to daydream about Heroic-only Campaign?

In someone's 4e blog (A WoTC DM) he threw a level 19 Angel of Vengeance (an elite, admittedly) against his 10th level PCs. He quickly had to call in reinforcement after reinforcement just to keep the PCs from being utterly annhilated. (What you and I would probably call bad DMing, but...
