    D&D General D&D doesn't need Evil

I think it would be great if our D and D worlds didn't have evils. Just think of how much longer food stores like flour, grain, rice, cereal, nuts, and beans would last. Ration prices would drop. In nautical adventures you could bite into a ships biscuit and not have to make a con save. And...

Why do Americans pronounce centaurs "centars"???

As with many words, Americans omit the "u" in Centaur. "Centar" Whereas in Canada, we spell it "Centaaurs". Because we love to add an "a", eh?

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

Players want to feel that they are right. That requires their adversaries - particularly the ones they apply lethal force to - to be wrong. A simple game structure to do that is to have two opposing sides and make one "right" and the other "wrong" with clear, indisputable and perceived methods...

    D&D General D&D doesn't need Evil

"At what point does a character become irredeemably evil?" Murdering a roomful of schoolchildren seems like a good benchmark.

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

Things that are absolutely, completely, emphatically NOT TRUE in the real world can be absolutely, completely, emphatically TRUE in an imaginary one. If magic is real, other absurdities - a race that is universally evil, for example - is just as plausible. And just as divorced from the real world.

D&D 5E If the DM forgets something about a boss, should the player remind him

It depends. Would the DM remind the player of an ability they missed or forgot to use? If so, then absolutely, the players should be good sports and remind them. If not, then you are playing by rougher rules and it's every side for itself.

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

So if you described a race of beings as "beautiful", "refined", "elegant", "cultured" and other terms NOT "used by colonizers to dehumanize and oppress indigenous people" THEN it would be ok to say they are all evil? ...like the Drow?

Pathfinder 1E When the min-maxer tries to build your character for you.

Communicating with other people is always bad. Best to avoid it altogether.

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

Things can be evil just because the rules of the imaginary game say they are evil. It doesn't HAVE to be any more complicated than that. It doesn't have to MEAN any more than that. "What does the stat block say?" "Evil." "Light 'em up!"

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

Valid, but only if there is a prior plot event. What if we kick in their door because they are in Room 7 of the second level of the dungeon? DM says "Roll for initiative!" Do we have to try and negotiate with them and get the response "Stab stab stab headbutt stab" or can we open with a...

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

"if the main reasons they are identifiable as "a different species" are those historical stereotypes." This is an interesting point. What are acceptable identifiers? Can you give an example of an acceptable short hand for "These are evil, you don't have to give them the first attack?"

D&D General Why are "ugly evil orcs" so unpopular?

"Why the segregation of "it's okay for these imaginary creatures to be evil, but not these"?" That's actually the most interesting question of the lot.

    Battle Mat Ghosts

A Mr Clean Magic Eraser will also take off "ghost" lines from a Chessex map. Unfortunately it will also take off the ACTUAL lines on the map. So again, try a small spot first.
