Is this an Attack of Opportunity?

This is an interesting puzzle to resolve by the rules. I don't think it is exactly covered Cure Light Wounds is delivered by touching a living person with your hand. The spell description states exactly that. So "Hip checking" or "kicking to deliver the touch" are all completly irrelevant...

Is this an Attack of Opportunity?

Unless I'm reading things wrong, this situation cannot occure. You can move through suqares occupied by friends, but you cannot end your movement in them. So the cat (-sized creature) and the ogre (-sized creature) cannot be in the same square (assuming they are allies).

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.0 to 3.5

This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. The players are unhappy about the change, as they were 'optimised' under the previous rules set. You are introducing a new rules set. What possible justification can you supply to not allow the players to optimise their characters, when you will be...

    Blasphemy = Broken?

Blasphemy (and the other 3 similar alignment related spells) is pretty broken when used by something with lots of HD and you use the HD as caster level. Either use the CR as caster level, or substitute a different spell effect of 7th level - Mass Inflict Serious Wounds, is a nice easy one - but...

    Uses for a blind horse?

Turn it into glue and meat. Would you let a sighted PC guide a blind PC so that the blind PC could run? I'm guessing no.

    Fighter Feats Character Creation

Dump all the riding feats. You won't get to use them all that much IMO. (fighter 1) Power Attack (Character 1) Cleave (this feat is AWESOME at low levels) (human) Weapon Focus - Greatsword (fighter 2) Combat Reflexes - extra attacks are more damage. You get to make them while you are flat...

    PC vs. PC XP

PC vs PC should never award XP under any circumstances for any reason whatsoever. It should inflict an XP penalty equal to the same magnitude that XP would be awarded based on the CR of the players involved. 1) If you award XP then you encourage players to kill each other. Why bother...

    Divine Metamagic

Level 1, Human Cleric. Take Quicken as a feat. Then take Sudden Extend (or in fact any other Sudden feat of your choice, except for Sudden Quicken, which you cannot take because the requirements are for loads of Sudden's). Personally I like Extend, clerics get a lot of good spells with...

    Sorcerer Build Up

Not so. Clerics get to improve their turn undead ability as they level up, and that is a genuinly useful ability. The turning ability of a 20th level cleric is way more significant than the turning ability of a 1st level cleric. Almost all cleric PRC's with full spell casting progression have...

    Mobile Spellcasting

Mobility is king under D&D, having greater mobility gives you an edge over the opponents that is almost unbeatable. Being able to move and cast as a standard action is a tremendous benefit for a single feat. move and deliver spell (say cone spells such as burning hands) and then afterwards...

    Sorcerer Build Up

One of the key features of the sorcerer class is that it has no class features above 1st other than familiar - and generally familiars are crap. You should take prestige classes that have full caster progression, all prestige classes get some extra features. That's how you build an...

My fighter always gets battered-am I "normal"?

Take the leadership feat, and get yourself a pet mystic theurge. You want someone who can buff you up, low level cleric and wizard spells are simply great for that. Shield of Faith, Entropic Shield, Bless, Stat buffs, prot vs evil, prayer, enlage, resist energy, blur, haste, fly, heroism, the...

    Help me rework the half-elf.

Remove the inherent bonus to Diplomacy and Gather Information. That +2 twice. Let the half elf use +2 to any skill roll twice a day. That nicely represents their adaptability I think.

    Clerics & Druids: musings

Taking heavy armour prof and reducing HD to D6, what a way to cripple clerics IMO. Should have some seriously powered things added to them to make up for this. I wouldn't touch a cleric with no heavy armour and 1D6 hp. Clerics are intended to be in combat (only...

Major NPCs - Character or NPC Classes

PC classes are more powerful than NPC classes. For anyone of significance who is a foil/opponent of the PC's you should use the PC classes IMO, so as to present a true challenge. As for the rest, who cares what they are. If the PC's aren't going to fight/oppose them then their abilities and...

Cannot use lance in a mounted charge?

The end of your charge is 10' away from the opponent. That's where you make the attack from. You don't end up 5' away, read the whole sentance "First, you must move to the closest space from which you can attack the opponent", it's not move to the closest space, the from which bit it a...

At my wit's end! Looking for advice on problem players...

Tell P5 that his character is not welcome at the table, You asked for heroes, not zeroes. Tehh P5 that his characters actions consisted of 'disruption' not good roleplay and that there is an XP Penalty for that. Tell P4 that this is a game for a group, and that nobody should be dominating...

What are the biggest rules debates?

I disagree with you. PHB p148, the stuff about measuring movement - a diagonal counts as 1.5 squares. So the closest square from which you can attack the opponent is the charge along the grid lines horizontally, with no diagonal movement. The allowed squares from which X and Y can attack...

Dang, you are right Hypersmurf, it's the ending square, not the space you are attacking.

2 PCs charge 1 NPC from same direction

In the case below of A and B wanting to charge X... #####A X####B A cannot declare a charge on X. PHB, page 154. "Second, if any line from your starting space to the ending space passes through a square that blocks movement, slows movement, or contains a creature (even an ally), you can’t...
