I Found The Cheapest Place To Buy Rpgs!

Anybody find the Conan RPG on overstock.com? I can't find it, but couldn't find it on Amazon or Wal-Mart either when I first looked (found it on thes sites since). All of these sites have bad search engines...

I Found The Cheapest Place To Buy Rpgs!

http://www.overstock.com "always beats Amazon's prices" by a considerable margin, possibly Wal-Mart's, too. I just saw a TV commercial for them and visited the site, which has a truly crappy search engine... but the prices of the RPG items I did find are around 35-45% off cover price on average...

    Conan the Confessor

Andrew J. Offut was the president of the Science Fiction Writers of America at the time he wrote his Conan books. You know, I screwed up and read Offut's Conan books out of order. The correct order is: CONAN AND THE SORCERER (illustrated with 50 pics by Esteban Maroto) CONAN THE MERCENARY...

    Conan the Confessor

I just finished reading Andrew Offut's first two Conan novels, CONAN AND THE SORCERER and THE SWORD OF SKELOS, and I thought they were absolutely thrilling, fantastic adventures worthy of Howard himself. I am now starting on his third (and last?), CONAN THE MERCENARY. I have no idea why anyone...

    (Mongoose) Latest Conan RPG Preview

I just looked through Rogues In The House at my FLGS, and thought the Barry Windsor-Smith art sucked big time (like a bad version of John Buscema!), but it looked pretty standard for the early 70s as far as generic comic book art goes. I'd never seen it before; maybe I'd have liked it if I grew...

    Conan the Confessor

I just reread (first time since 1983) Robert Jordan's CONAN THE INVINCIBLE and CONAN THE DEFENDER (his first two Conan books). I think they're top-flight; utterly fantastic and gripping as far as the non-Howard stuff goes. IMO, with these two novels Jordan did a wonderful job of recapturing the...

    (Mongoose) Latest Conan RPG Preview

The material chosen for the website previews often raise more questions than they answer (Preview 2: Obsession is particularly poor; it is very confusing without the section on Allegiance rules, and an understanding of power points---it just makes the sorcery rules of the game look overly...

Question: Yuan-Ti--Is it just me, or...?

There was an excellent yuan-ti article in Dragon's Urban Adventuring issue (#306? The cover had a thief with loaded crossbow in your face swiinging over the rooftops). Not sure if the article answers your specific questions, but it should prove useful in running adventures with them.

    Remaking Warmage as Specialist Wizard?

Nobody has any advice/ideas on this?

    AEG: Guilds, Questions

I agree it needs to be mentioned, as it won't appeal to everyone. Still, while my group was leery of it at first, they embraced it rather quickly when they saw they could shore up weak spots or make themselves better in areas they were already good at it for a reasonable XP cost. Nobody did this...

    AEG: Guilds, Questions

I liked Guildcraft a lot, and did not think AEG's Guilds had enough useful material to warrant a purchase. Guildcraft's spending XPs to advance in the the guild idea is brilliant, as it gives non-casters something to spend their XP on (an idea also seen in the various Fantasy Flight "Path Of"...

    Kalamar losing popularity?

Point well made. IMO, Kenzer would have made the KKPG a bigger, more enduring sales hit by advertising it as a variant Player's Handbook (which is really what it almost is) rather than a "KoK only" type book. It's still a great book, though, and one of the main reasons I like to flip through...

Killing your best friend for treasure

The excuses were one after the other, made out of the game, just to make the DM stop looking at him like that. The slain NPC was not an uber-NPC or DM favorite, but the DM was, so far as any of us know, merely using him to test out the Warmage class from the Minis HB, and it seemed like he was...

Killing your best friend for treasure

The really (unintentionally) funny part about that was when the NPC said "You shot me! Have you lost your mind?" and the PC 'hero' replied: "Don't worry about it; they're poisoned! They'll just make you go to sleep for a little while..." LOL :p

Killing your best friend for treasure

The PC already had over 5,000 gp from his gladiatorial matches and bodyguard work. He was expecting another few thousand gold in a few days from another "high risk, short term" bodyguarding job he'd just pulled off. He didn't need the pirate treasure, although, admittedly, he did go through...

Killing your best friend for treasure

The PC had some great excuses for his behavior, such as: "If he was really my friend, he would have let us keep the treasure"; "Devotion to anything other than yourself is a surefire way to get killed"; "I worked too hard to get that bloody treasure to let anyone stand in my way"; "I had...

Killing your best friend for treasure

So in tonight's game, a PC killed his "best friend from childhood" when said NPC (a member of local law enforcement) threatened to turn the pirate treasure they'd just found in the sewers over to the local authorities as it was stiolen goods and needed to be returned to the city. The PC had...

    Conan the Confessor

I am so stoked about this new Conan game!!! I couldn't get halfway through reading The Two Towers without falling asleep, but that's never something I experienced while reading a Conan story (regardless of the author or quality). I didn't have that sleepy problem reading LotR rip-offs like...
