    Pramas: D&D his way??

It's a bit hyperbolic to call the online fraction of D&D's fanbase "the largest designing body there is", isn't it? Frankly, I wouldn't trust 99.9% of the material "designed" by the fans.

4e rules will make some games much harder to run

At the risk of sounding confrontational, why does the OP still think that he should continue to play D&D? It's hardly the only fantasy game on the market and there are plenty of other games which feature non-tactical combat. There are likely many familiar D&D elements that the OP wishes to...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

I suspect that the "Healing Surge" rule interacts with clerics and warlords who, I seem to recall, have the ability to trigger a Healing Surge. This suggests that healing surges return different amounts of hit points based on class. Second Wind is another rule that likely works independent of...

WotC_PeterS: Charecter Names NEW: Town/Location Names

Flawless Victory! Animality! EDIT: And "Dominator X" from the Name List is obviously you, Mearls!

    What's this so-called MMO influence????

Isn't it obvious that the original post is trolling? Drakshasak hasn't replied once and most people who start threads initially camp them for a while to see if immediate discussion ensues.

What exactly is the deal with the 4th Edition?

The OP looks like trolling to me. Brand new user, asking a question that's been a flashpoint for flame wars in the past? Color me suspicious. To the OP: ENWorld has a massive 4E information page you can read. There's a link to it at the top of this forum.

    D&D 4E Monte Cook on 4E

Way to read the whole thread before posting, ainatan! :p

    D&D 4E Monte Cook on 4E

Is it really fair or helpful to describe the contributions of others as "meaningless" when you're unsuccessfully wrapping yourself in the mantle of quantified knowledge? Seems to me like GameOgre isn't the only one offering subjective experience as fact.

So, eladrin's can teleport around? ..nail...coffin...rogue already obsolete?

With all due respect, this is all needlessly hyperbolic and perhaps hysterical. If you have access to the 4E rules and would like to back up your claim of obsolescence, I'm eager to read it.

Races & Classes details from the WotC boards

This far into the thread and no mention of the kender as main inspiration for 4E halflings? When coupled with the exclusion of gnomes as core race, I predict much rending of garments over this tidbit.

    And the mystery race is...hated

I think it's a fine choice. I'm thrilled that gnomes aren't in the first PHB. They've been a largely redundant race throughout the game's history. Unlike Henry, I've always leaned towards banning gnomes in a game I run. So this might be the first time that I run a D&D game with all the PHB...

    I begin to worry...

Look, if you're willing to believe that men can summon magical energy from mythical divine beings to perform miracles, you've got to loosen your grip on the narrative a bit more than that. If you're that intent on standing in the way of your own fun, I'm not sure what will help you. Still...

    I begin to worry...

Thanks for clarifying your position, Brown. I think I understand where you're coming from now. I'll try to paraphrase your position. There are likely to be at least two flavors of healing in 4E: warlord and clerical. The flavor of clerical healing has traditionally been a magic spell which...

    I begin to worry...

With due respect, you're creating an issue where none exists. Whether we're talking about hit points or a vitality/wound system, we are, at base, discussing a method of notation for determining when we've overcome an obstacle. This is a broad level of analysis, but a crucial one. Regardless...

    I begin to worry...

I see where you're coming from, Henry. There are some powers in the Bo9S (I'm thinking of the fiery ones) that give swordsages some overtly magical abilities with regards to slinging fire. In the past, it's only magic-wielders who have been able to do such unnatural things. That's arguably a...

    I begin to worry...

You're giving into uninformed unease (hysteria?). WotC hasn't released information on a vast majority of the 4E rules. Your only source of worry is that these effects haven't been mentioned in playtests? You need to relax a bit. If this is triggering a deep sense of worry, then you need to...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

Imagine the years of argument and confusion that could have been avoided if Gygax hadn't called them "hit points." The term suggests that you lose them when you're hit. So an attack, which reduces hit points, is thought to "hit" the opponent, rather than simply "succeeding" against the opponent.

Dragonlance trailer at Youtube at last!

I am underwhelmed by the quality of the animation. It reminds me of a low-budget Saturday morning cartoon. From what I could tell, the computer animation was also low-quality. Both types of animation didn't seem to blend well.
