    [September] What are you Reading?

I liked the Rogues sreies. They were quick reads and they showed a different side of the rogue character.

New Thomas Convenant series on the way

I had forgotten it had been that long. Since I forgot, I must be old too. :)

New Thomas Convenant series on the way

Well you win some.....you loose some. I'll do better this time around! ;) If you haven't noticed by my screen name, I liked the books and I can't wait to read the new ones. Its a nice change to read books with low magic (like the TC series or the Shannnara series). Some characters have...

FLGS- Old Inventory and Organization UPDATE!!

I agree 100% with Cthulu's Librarian. If I can't Flip through the book then its a no sale. I've been burnt a couple of times on an impulse buy because of the pretty packaging. I've also been burnt on an item that got a good review and when I got it home and unwraped it I found that it was...

Do your Enworld name and avatar reflect who you are?

My "name" does not reflect who I am at all. WhenI was trying to come up with a name I looked over at my bookshelf. The first book I saw was Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson. The avatar is just something I happened to stumble across that day. It kinda fit the name so I used it.

Will the RPG industry disappear by 2014?

I agree with everything except for the PnP RPGs fading. Playing on the computer or PS2 is nice but its not the social event that the PnP game is. PnP has faded since the 80's because of the computer and games like NWN, but look at the gamers seeking gamers forum to see thousands of people...

If a DM can't cheat, can a player cheat?

The reason it might be insulting you so much is because you have put in time and effort to create a challenging but fair game. Then this player has some bad rolls and things don't look good so he changes some when he thinks no one can see. How would he feel if you changed some of NPC or...

If a DM can't cheat, can a player cheat?

D&D is like theatre. The DM is the narator and the supporting cast while the players are the main characters. Do the players really not care or are they just willing to overlook it for the sake of keeping the peace? And about his crying innocence, how do you know for sure? Sounds like the...

If a DM can't cheat, can a player cheat?

Yes I will admit that I have fudged a roll to avoid a TPK. But I was the DM and I designed the adventure. An encounter that I thought would be a cake-walk in design ended up being the groups worst nightmare. And it wasn't because of bad rolls by the group, it was beacause I missread the...

If a DM can't cheat, can a player cheat?

Yes it's cheating. The game is part chance (hence the dice) and by "fudging" a roll he is cheating himself by not experiencing the game as a whole and not allowing the rest of the group to react to the non-fudged act. He is also cheating you out of a good time by making you try to figure out a...

Abandoned Magic Guild [My Players Stay Out]

I also think that the 2nd map is better. You have 8 sides; one for each school of magic.

Abandoned Magic Guild [My Players Stay Out]

This idea is great! This would keep the PCs on their toes. They would have no idea when or where the next attack was coming from. I would make sure that this is all done with hit-and-run tactics. Some things I would also try are: Having the fiend posses a curtain ,tapestry, or quilt and...

Game Purchase Priorities (Or are Gamers Broke?)

When I was a kid all I could afford was the Players Handbook and some dice. My friends and I would go to the hobby shop every week and I would watch them spend all sorts of money on D&D stuff. Now that I'm older and have a good job I find myself spending lots of money on RPGs. Most of the...

    anyone else burned-out with D&D?

I wish I was burnt out on D&D. Ever since our group split up (people got new jobs or moved away), I haven't played. :( But what we used to do to break things up so that we would not get burnt out every three or four sessions we would play Munchkin, CoC, Settlers of Catan, or some other type...

    Gary Gygax and ???...

Your not the only one who loved it. When I was a kid there was nothing better than Saturday morning cartoons. Then the D&D cartoon came out and life got better. My friends and I would get together on Saturday morning and watch cartoons until noon (including the D&D one) and then play D&D all...

    A few tidbits about Baldur's Gate 3.

I'm not a big fan of the turn-based system. The battles are too drawn out and boring. I like the way it's done in BG and NWN. Battles are quicker and more entertaining to watch. :)

    A few tidbits about Baldur's Gate 3.

Thanks for the info. I have really enjoyed the BG series and it sounds like they are trying to take BG3 to a new level. Can not wait for it to come out.
