    Wound System

Wound system One of my biggest, continuing gripes with D&D and similar system, has always been the hit point abstraction. Our adventurers get hurt a lot, even to the point of dying, but they never get wounded. They are battered repeatedly by orcs and dragons, until they drop in a heap, yet a...

    Spirit Shaman

I've created a homebrew Shaman that was an archetype to the druid, and was more heavily focused on elementals, since that is what my player wanted. I must say, however, that I like your ideas here better. I think it's a solid theme, and pretty well executed. A few points: Spirit Guide - while...

    Homebrew Race Changes/Rebalancing

I hate to be dour, really, but most of these changes are unnecessary, and many are on the verge of being overpowered (Earth genasi resistance, adamantine warforged, goliath, aarokoa). You've buffed some classes that are doing just fine as they are, or made them unnecessarily complicated. I think...

    New fighting styles for 5E.

Greatsword with GWF deals 8,33 damage before mods on average (if my memory serves), while 2d8 comes out to 9 damage. Additionally, having two damage types on the same attack is much better for overcoming damage resistances. So this fighting style is better than GWF - even if you have to have a...

    New fighting styles for 5E.

But, don't you realize, that this effectively makes your attack 2d8 + weapon mod? Which is, on average, 2 damage more than the greatsword per hit - which is already the most damaging attack there is. On top of that, you still have your bonus action free, and it has an extra effect on a critical...

    D&D 5E 5th Edition Intelligence

I've houseruled that you get one bonus language or one bonus proficiency in a knowledge skill or one bonus proficiency in a tool, for each positive modifier of intelligence you have. That brings intelligence up to par with Charisma, I feel.

D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse DM advice please

I definitely think it's a hard one to prepare for. I'm running it at level 6 right now, on my 6th or 7th session. My advice to you is to steer your PC's towards the more fun parts, so you don't have to plan for everything. Adventure Hooks My players come out of the Lost Mines of Phandelver...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

A case can arguably be made for both, but I like a character that is halfway Wizard, halfway Fighter, to have a save from both worlds. It's a minor thing, though, since Wisdom and Constitution are roughly equally good saving throws. I don't think it's a big problem, but if you wanted too, I...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

I haven't tried the class, but I can give some feedback. My overall points: 1) Many features look really interesting. I like a lot of it. 2) I think the class intrudes too much on existing classes, namely the Wizard and the Eldritch Knight. 3) I think the class has too many 'out of flavour...

    Alternate Health

I've been tinkering with a an alternate system myself. The main problem here, is how a 1st level character will have almost similar durability as a 20th level character. The difference will be (using your example) 14 Life Points to 26 Life points (with maxed constitution). So, it's a very small...

Sword Coast Legends To Introduce RAGE OF DEMONS and Tile Based Editor

It's good for all of those who enjoy SCL''s gameplay. Unfortunately, I don't. Obviously I would have loved a closer adaptation to 5e - something like DoS' with d&d rules is my wet dream - but I could have lived with these alternate mechanics had they at least been enjoyable. They aren't, to me...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Well obviously, since the increments are smaller. 8 x 2.5 = 20. You are comparing 1 inch to 1 cm. There are also more people at the exact same height in inches, than there are people the exact same size in cm. Not my fault americans have chosen an imprecise measurement system :p

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

It's not calculations that the player would have to do, it's just how you would roll it, if you rolled it yourself - like in the PHB. So that you can look at your sheet and see that for a human you roll 5d10 and add it to 145 to find your height in centimeters. Admittedly, the weight one is a...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

In case you are wondering, here's how the height ranges hold up. Converted first, the new ranges second Human height range 147,2-193 // 150-195 Dwarf, hill height range: 116,8-132,1 // 115-130 Dwarf, mountain height range: 127-142,2 // 125-140 Elf, high converted: 142,2-188 // 145-190 Elf...

    D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Here is my attempt at the base classes. Heights are easy enough to convert. 2d4 becomes 5d4, 2d6 becomes 5d6, 2d8 becomes 5d8 and so on. Formula is still: Base height in centimeters + height modifier = height Weight modifiers are a bit trickier, because of the way inches and pounds convert to...

Fixing the fighter: the surge problem

I am just looking at what people would play. They tend to not go for the vastly inferior options. Even just a duelist build would deal 9.5 + 4.5 damage (or 6.5 if you add dualist bonus damage to both), as opposed to 6.5 + 6.5, and then you also get +2 ac. So superior in both damage and defense...

Fixing the fighter: the surge problem

Even without damage mod - which the OP says nothing about - your GWFS damage at level 1 goes from 11.33 to 19.66, where a TWF has 13. Now there is 0 reason to TWF, even at low levels, if you are a fighter. It usually gets outackled at lvl 4 or 11, depending on feat availability, but now doesn't...

Fixing the fighter: the surge problem

But it certainly decreases your inclination to go Two-weapon fighting, Polearm Mastery or (possibly not, because the -5/+10 is so strong on its own) Great Weapon Mastery, if you are already able to attack with your bonus action. Why would you ever two-weapon fight if you can have the same...

Fixing the fighter: the surge problem

If you did that, then suddenly TWF is utterly useless. As is many feats. The fighter is really balanced for what it is - a fighter - in my opinion. I think you're forgetting the archetypes, who either have significant passive boosts or exciting active abilities.
