Dungeon Tiles Master Sets - Not a good deal?

I noticed that the Dungeon Tile Master Sets are going to have 10 sheets of tiles for $19.99. Since the regular sets are $9.99 for 6 sheets, doesn't this mean we are getting less for more?

HS1 - The Slaying Stone - my poor reviewing skills review

Minor rant about HS1. I appreciate that WoTC mentions in the module that they are providing a downloadable copy of the player's map on their website. That's great! But how about putting it somewhere SO I CAN ACTUALLY FIND IT! Is that so hard?

HS1 - The Slaying Stone - my poor reviewing skills review

I didn't run across any encounters that really made me say 'wow' but overall Ii think this is one of the best low-level modules WOTC has ever produced. Everything from the open nature of the adventure to the DM advice is really top notch.

D&D Essentials - What they are and who they're for

I don't think that's it. It is my understanding that the books will be 'trade paperback' size and so the layout will be simpler with a much lower word count per page. That will increase page count quite a bit.

D&D Essentials - What they are and who they're for

If a player really needs the Compendium ($20) + Heroes book ($20) to play then this is stupid. Why spend $40 for two trade paperbacks that won't lie flat and aren't very durable when you can get the Player's Handbook for $35 and get a durable hardback that lies flat and has more content and...

Gabe of Penny Arcade Slams the OSR

Maybe seeing for just a night what it was like back then, will give them a greater appreciation of the game they're playing now. Nice thinly veiled slam against the old-school players out there. Also, what's with the comments about 'armor deteriorating' and 'magic items breaking'*? Since when...

The Spring 2010 Games Plus auction

Did anyone get any good deals at the auction? I wasn't able to attend, but I did put my copy of the beloved ToEE in. I hope it went for a good price.

    4e Buyers remorse

I had a very similar experience. I just don't have the time to adequately prepare for 'modern' D&D. My solution was to go with Swords & Wizardry because it is dead simple, but a good compromise might be Castles & Crusades. It has that old-school feel dressed up with some new school mechanics.

    OSRIC 2.0 Hardcover = AWESOME

Except that it's not...I have the paperback version of 2.0 and while I like the book, it irritates the heck out of me that fundamental spells (i.e. Detect Magic) were needlessly changed. Uggh...

    D&D 4E Player's Handbook Collection

ICV2.com is reporting that WotC will be selling a D&D 4E Player's Handbook Collection soon that will include Player's Handbooks 1 & 2 (plus a coupon for discount on a D&D Insider) subscription for just $34.95. Sounds like a good deal (of course the cynic in me thinks that it also might be a...

Help Me Decide on a Project!

Like many others, I seem to be afflicted with Gamer ADHD when it comes to deciding on a project to work on. I have narrowed my choices down to two possibilities. Both will be based on Castles & Crusades because that is my current system of choice. I would like your help in deciding which one...

    Is Iron Heroes Dead

Fiery Dragon seems to be letting Iron Heroes drift into obscurity. Does anyone know if a 2nd Edition is in the works?

Does anyone have access to the recently released Hasbro Quarterly Report? If so, is WOTC mentioned at all?

    [Castles & Crusades] Who's Playing/Running?

I am planning on using C&C for my next campaign. I would advise picking up the green cover 'fourth crusade' versions of the PH and M&T. I think they are the best in terms of organization and errata (apart from a few new inclusions that I don't care for like illusory healing spells...).

Are Any of the AEG Mini-Adventures Outstanding?

DriveThruRPG has PDFs of the old AEG 'mini-adventures' on sale for only 63 cents each. Are any of them particularly good? I'm not just looking for another 'ok' dungeon crawl. I am looking for clever/interesting/unique ideas and adventures.

    New RPG News Site

Won't they be having an event for the DMG2 release in September? I was thinking of coming down and running Swords & Wizardry. :)

    New RPG News Site

For the record Mark, I was NOT the one that reported your post. I am sorry if I misinterpreted your intentions. I just had a bad experience on the Troll Lord Games forums a few days ago and I guess I was a bit touchy. I think I understand now what you were trying to say. If I ever see you...

Just reserved the domain name. I was trying to get some feedback about what content and/or format potential visitors wanted before I started building. :)

    New RPG News Site

How is this relevant? That link is to a blog post that reflected an opinion that I had back in April. I plan to run a roleplaying news site, not an op-ed column. Have I offended you in some way?
