    D&D 5E Build an anti-stereotypical team of 4.

This unlikely party covers all the main bases, just not in the usual manner. Surprisingly effective, I think. Front Line Hill Dwarf Moon Druid, tank/divine. Wild Shape into a dinosaur from Volo's, and multiclass 1 monk level for Wis-based Unarmored Defense. Shillelagh if you have no wild shape...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

I really liked this concept, but didn't know how to make it work in a way that wouldn't reduce the value of Tavern Brawler. Also thought about an alternate version of the Dungeoncrasher fighter from 3.5 Edition, dealing damage when you push people into objects, but I couldn't make it work...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Thank you for taking the time to review my Thug! I know there's a lot to cover, so let’s get started. By Opportunity Attacks, I assume you meant Sneak Attacks? Will a Strength Rogue be worse at stealth checks than a Dex Rogue? Yes. Will a Strength Rogue be better at stealth checks than...

    D&D 5E Failing saves is...ok?

If I've been playing a character for over a year IRL, struggling through an intricately designed campaign, I'm going to be emotionally invested in that character's growth and story. If my character fails a mere one or two saves on a random encounter with a banshee or mindflayer or whatever...

To me, that's high praise indeed, thank you!

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

I'd need the Restrained condition to justify restricting somatic components to myself, and that goes against my goal of not making existing features obsolete (ie Grappler feat). For verbal components, it's just clamping your second hand over their mouth. Originally I just wanted a feature that...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Y'know, I think I agree. Three things were driving my initial wording; wanting to exclude greatclubs (for image reasons), wanting to include longswords (it's such a tease having proficiency there and not being able to SA with it), and wanting to include more one-handed d8 options to compete with...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

I've updated the class. Bonus Proficiency When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor. Dirty Work Starting at 3rd level, you have advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks made to grapple or shove creatures that are surprised. In addition, you can use...

D&D 5E A Knife in the Dark, A Rogues Handbook

I still need to add an updated spell section to cover the new material. Hopefully that'll get done soon.

Greenflame blade is a wizard cantrip. It works great for Eldritch Knights too! ;)

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Actually, that was what I was thinking of! :) Like you roar and beat your chest, but if they see you get hurt or knocked out they won't be afraid anymore. Rogues are skill monkeys and I was hoping to add utility to the Thug's intimidation skill, like the swashbuckler does for persuasion with...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

True story, I first had Extortionist named as Coercion, but it didn't feel like "enough" of a name. Violent Coercion sounds great, meshes well with the Strength bonus. I really like Kick Them When They're Down, would you mind if I used it as my 17th level feature? It trades offense for defense...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm not happy with the fighting styles either. There are some good ideas here though to look through. I felt Medium armor was needed to compensate for lower dex, but medium armor & shields would be overcompensating.

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

The idea was improved action economy, doing two things at once. Next turn you can attack instead of making an extra check.

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Thanks for taking the time to look this over. You have some interesting viewpoints, which I'll try to address. Yes, a wizard could gag a bandit that is already captured, but only a Thug can do this as part of a grapple action, to better capture that bandit in the first place without him yelling...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

Hey everybody. I wanted to play a fun and balanced rogue subclass that embodied the archetype of the burly goon rather than the agile thief... so I made one! What do you think, does it work? Do: Invoke an alternative roguish flavour to what is already offered. Encourage strength over...

WotC Names 10 "Adepts" On Their DMs Guild Store

Yes, and it's a good video. The YouTube comment section reaction to the interview is almost universally positive too, which in itself is pretty amazing, because, y'know, YouTube comment section.

D&D 5E A Knife in the Dark, A Rogues Handbook

Wow, thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you've found it useful! I originally decided to put this together because I was tired of waiting for someone else to do it, and even then I fully expected that someone else would make a better one just so my half-baked opinions wouldn't lead anyone...
