    Looking for free Paper miniatures

I'm a big fan of the "one monk" forum figures, they have down-loadable monthly hoards, these are 2D upright figures with fronts and backs, easy to transport & store, much less preparation time than painting...

Good traps to use in tight quarters?

Smoke? Near the roof of the tunnel it will block vision and cause damage (or weaken?) but the smaller kobolds could attack from below the cloud? Could be boosted with tar or toxins to give it that extra kick...

Too much character (and nostalgia) to resist!

Thousand Thrones: Your Experiences? (Here there be Spoilers, Probably)

1K Thrones is certainly "sub-plot & side-track friendly" I started the party with Pretty Things and added A Rough Night at the Three Feathers, the Spires of Altdorf idea sounds interesting too, I'll take a look at it, thanks...

Thousand Thrones: Your Experiences? (Here there be Spoilers, Probably)

I'm running this by Skype and maptools; we're now into chapter four and despite significant potential to become de-railed it's so far all going quite smoothly, this can't surely continue and I was wondering, with 6.5 chapters still to go, who else has played in or run this epic, how far they...

Things you find on the road?

Something Mary Gentle-esque? A corpse in a cage or gallows reciting its crimes? A Hitchcockian flock of birds silently watching you pass by? The prints of an enourmous clawed beast crossing the trail then disappearing abruptly - (Hyppogriffe that flew away)? Or ,as happend to me last weekend...

    Paper Models

Yep although I like Hirst Arts I find Fat Dragon and world works so much faster for building encounters. Probably a slight preference for Fat Dragon, a little more "naturalistic". Then also don't forget One Monk for free paper figures, I'm now using bill babble's? 3D bases and one monk's...

Nentir Vale - The Old Hills

Hilly abandoned regions, disused mine shafts can be a hazard, hard to spot if overgrown and potentially lethal, not to mention what’s at the bottom…?

    Designing a trap-filled tower

Put a moat around the tower, with a boat in a postion that's difficult but not impossible to get....place a ghoul under the water....stir and serve chilled...

Random Tables for Dungeon Dressing - Bits

    18. A small elegant wooden jewellery box; glued shut and now defaced with the words “Do Not Open” crudely carved into the top. Inside what ever was once there has corroded away leaving just large lumps of red brown oxides….

    Ideas for underground travel events

The Xorn would probably live in the bridge, if it was a natural stone bridge; thus any attempts at attacking it could destroy the bridge itself....

Random Tables for Dungeon Dressing - Bits

10 - An old tin whistle – it doesn’t make a noise, perhaps the pitch is too high for the human ear, or perhaps there’s a small parchment note rolled up and hidden inside?

    Ideas for underground travel events

A hungry Xorn might demand a toll of metal or precious gems (perhaps a specific type?) to allow passage of a cave or stone bridge? Likewise Myconids? might demand large amounts of organic matter (perhaps bat guano?) as a toll?

    Ideas for underground travel events

A large expanse of flowstone, very slippery, potential for characters to slide off into a pit, chute or side tunnel.... Acidic pool, or water dripping from cieling, corrodes armour..... Pocket of poisonous or explosive gas.... CaveQuake....

Random Tables for Dungeon Dressing - Bits

04 - A small stained linen pouch containing three black seed pods, sinister and twisted in shape; the unhealthy looking grey seeds within are non-viable and inedible…

Random Tables for Dungeon Dressing - Bits

I'm something of a sucker for this kind of thing, random tables of small items etc. to embelish an empty room, an orc's possessions or maybe to bait a trap. I thought perhaps it would be interesting to try and create a communial one here; the idea being that each person would grab the next...

    Fight On! #2

Nice review, tempted me to buy issue 3 (PDF), worth the investment, I'm mostly running 4th Ed, but the spirit is rooted in 1st Ed and it's a great source of ideas...

Keep on the Shadowfell - Irontooth

Wouldn't ever like to think I'd "gimped"? an encounter but my PC's (4) managed this OK. They took it carefully, lots of scouting outside, and as Nail says bottle necks inside, plus fighting retreats (and a flaming sphere) helped. It was touch and go though a few bad rolls would have changed the...

Kobold Hall: Which encounters to remove?

Seriously you'd keep the dragon?!! I had the party over hear him talking to an NPC prior to flying off; the party was only 4 characters strong and I'm pretty sure that even if they'd been fully rested it would have wiped the floor with them.....
