    Pathfinder 1E Is Pathfinder D & D?

Ok, now before people start jumping up and down; I love Dungeons and Dragons. I am way old school (started in 1977). I was so glad to have found Pathfinder, as I couldn't play 4th Ed. Now, back to my question. I have played every incarnation of D & D there is. And though my fellow local gamers...

1001 minor traits for magic swords

Done. So far we are at 200. I didn't try to change anything. Cleaned up mis-spellings and did provide a little clarity. Hope no one gets mad. Love this thread! 1) +1CMB 2) +1 CMD 3) Creates a meal with a drink/once a day 4) Re-roll damage once/day 5) Upon command, turns into a tool (shovel...

    Challenging without killing

They are probably just running nervous after the recent party deaths. Throw a few more monsters at them than normal. Or if they are heading out for the same adventure, don't worry; As DM you also get to have some fun; think what you would find interesting if you were playing those classes. I...

    your penalty for character death

Wow, a lot of different ways of doing things. I guess I am way old school. Back after the original white box, I started DMing with the hard back books. Usually the groups were pretty much hack and slash. Either they all lived or all died. That was simple. As I matured so did my games. There were...

What should I write for my Campaign Setting?

Thats a good question. How much should your PCs know? If they grew up in the area that they are exploring then they would know a lot it. Maybe they have heard rumors or have a lower Knowledge: Local skill when they roll for something. I look at it as what would I know as a player if I was from...

    Narrating Combat

In the fast combat phase, I admit I do, "Roll to hit, 16...do damage." But when they have defeated the villain, and say the last PC rolled a nat 20, I try and do a good narrative, "The longsword blade slices through the Orc's upper chest, splitting his leather armor and having dark green blood...

    Planning sessions

Planning is good; but I have also found that sometimes, and I say SOMETIMES, a bit off the cuff can be fun. I have put the most innocence thing into the game, say a rumor, that literally was just a rumor for back ground flavor, and my PCs were off and running with that. It made for some...

Does anyone grow their characters organically anymore?

I try to do that; roll the dice and see where they fall. And then maybe choose a race that helps, or if I think of something pretty cool. I like my character to grow normally. I don't try and 'juggle' points to get max out of something. I like the challenge.

    Level 0

Actually thought about doing something like that; and I saw it written about in an old Dragon. But, in my opinion, you need a regular group or a group of experienced role players. I have found that a lot of gamers want high levels to get to the "goodies." I have always felt the journey was the...
