For me, it's the idea of WotC putting the crunch on 3pp companies to either pick one or the other system to support. I honestly do not think it is WotC's place to be telling another company what they can or cannot produce. Many of these 3pp companies would love to be able to support both systems...

Mongoose Publication has done a feat like that, allowing you to choose two cross-class skills to become class skills. The book I have seen it in was their "Ultimate Feats" book.

Could you elaborate a little bit? One thing that I do see though, is that it would tend to preclude the fey based origin warlocks. Which is why I have the Psudodragon included with the forms the famliar could be.
