    A Subtle Shift?

I'll probably E6ify 4e and get all the simulation (i.e. genre simulation) I could hope for. I mean, it sounds like the Heroic levels (1-10) are all that I'm going to really want, so I'll find a way to make the game fun in those levels, stretch them out, and ignore the rest. :)

    Free but not worthless?

The project has begun, and after long consideration I have decided it is best structured as a community wiki project. If you'd like to participate, make suggestions, or just check out what I'm doing, see: www.greathundred.org

D&D 3E/3.5 New to gaming - Should I wait for 4E or should buy the 3E Core Rules?

Also, if you're just dipping your toes there's some great games available for free online. These are both by established game designers who have sold their products for money: Clinton R Nixon has a few, including Donjon which I hear is awesome: http://open.crngames.com/ S John Ross made...

    DM Burnout - Any Remedies?

Make your weekly rpg night boardgame and movie night for a couple of months. Keeps the social connection there but also solves your burnout. By the end of it you'll be itching to run again.

    What's in your OGC future?

There's a lot of debate, so I intend to use both so people can choose which one they want. Since we're talking about Attribution (citing sources, giving credit where credit is due) there's not a lot to "take to court" about. CC-Attribution is like waving a big flag saying "You can use this...

Elan vs. Illumians, which ones better?

Elan. Nice and weird. They're also OGC which puts them way ahead in my book.

    How do you use traps?

I try to make traps part of something else. Like a set of traps connected to some levers that are part of a puzzle, or a bunch of pits that make a fight with goblins more interesting. Which is to say, basically, I try to make my traps TRAPs (see sig).

    What's in your OGC future?

That's an option you can tack on, but it's not necessary.

    What's in your OGC future?

Actually, I'll be releasing under both licenses simultaneously. I.E. the document will be released twice at the same time: Creative Commons-Attribution (this is NOT a sharealike / noncommercial license, this doesn't restrict use, just requires credit be given) OGL 100% OGC

D&D 4E What would make you decide against 4e?

If it plays slower, I'm out. Edit: Serious SRD is a must. I like what I've heard so far.

ry's Threats, Rewards, Assets, and Problems (TRAPs)

Just to throw a LITTLE mud in, there is a kind of Problem that works in a meat and potatoes way. That's the "during the battle" Problem - for example: Threat: Weredirebadger Archers with bows the size of ballistas Reward: Weredirebadgers' bows are worth 1000 gp each. Asset: Weredirebadgers...

    Good (card) Suit names?

And the deck, revised. The Queen of Suns: A woman who shields in spring The Crone of Suns: A woman who grows in summer The Witch of Suns: A woman who proxies in autumn The Lady of Suns: A woman who scatters in winter The Knight of Suns: A man who connects in spring The Nine of Suns: A man who...

    Good (card) Suit names?

Merkuri is correct: Called "Cloaks" but drawn as a crescent moon.

    Good (card) Suit names?

Yeah, I know there's a lot of circular symbols there. Coins will look like 3 dots in a triangle. Suns will be ~ 8 triangles (double square shape) The idea though is that these are the "tarot" of the game more than a deck for common card games. Nobles play games with these but the "common...

ry's Threats, Rewards, Assets, and Problems (TRAPs)

Well, Threat is like Monster and Reward is like Treasure. The difference between problems and threats in my mind is that threats are dangerous in a very immediate way. Remembering threats is exactly the same as remembering to put traps and monsters in a dungeon. So for a Threat, I'd design...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Yep. It's excellent, and I could definitely see using this with an Eberron E6 game. The only reason I haven't posted it here is it's not OGL friendly (some reprints from Eberron, right?). Feel free to tack it on here though.

I'm still gunning for psycho-barbarian Belkar and conflicted vampire Haley.

Have you ever started a legacy thread?

E6's six incarnations definitely meet the legacy criteria. There's one technique that I would recommend to anyone involved in such a long discussion: If there's more to discuss, and you've hit 250+ posts but you're retreading old ground, restart the thread. 1) Start a new thread with the...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Also from my sig, look at the TRAP method: Find ways to add rewards, problems, and assets in addition to the threat inside the cave system. In fact, you could probably port over quite a few of the ideas I have in the TRAP thread itself (look for stuff about the manticore lair)
