Hmmm... personally I am not happy with your way of using the forces (connect, delineate etc.) and the seasons, as I do not see their impact / implication, but that's just me I guess. Thinking a bit on your idea, I came up with the following (not yet complete, but you get the idea):

Power Suit: Magic
Symbol: Staff
Element: the Weave
Plane: Etherial
Meaning: magical power, the power of transformation and manipulation of and by ‘natural’ forces
Face Cards (5): Arch Magi, Witch, Warlock, Shaman, Sorceress
Force Cards (10): Abjuration, Summoning, Necromancy, Enchantment, Conjuration, Charm, Illusion, Divination, Transmutation, Evocation

Power Suit: Divine
Symbol: Orb
Element: Spirit / Soul
Plane: Astral
Meaning: divine power and influence
Face Cards (5): High Priest, Paladin, Monk, Lay man, Believer
Force Cards (10): the 10 greater Gods

Power Suit: Death
Symbol: Skull
Element: negative energy
Plane: negative elemental plane or Hades/Hells/Abyss
Meaning: destructive power, death, destruction, decay, entropy, failure
Face Cards (5): Death, Assassin, Warlord, Warrior, Ferryman
Force Cards (10): Disease, War, Famine, Earthquake, Tsunami, Tempest, Firestorm, Ageing, ?, ?

Power Suit: Life
Symbol: Sun
Element: positive energy
Plane: positive energy or Mount Celestia etc.
Meaning: birth, life, growth, healing, protection
Face Cards (5): Mother, Healer, Child, Shield Maiden, Druid
Force Cards (10): Birth, Healing, Growth, Harvest, Life, Youth, ???

Elemental Suit: Material gain/loss
Symbol: Coins
Element: Earth
Plane: elemental plane earth
Meaning: issues dealing with material gains, developments or losses
Face Cards (5): Merchant, Trader, Thief, Innkeeper, Swindler
Force Cards (10): Wealth, Harvest, Bounty, Ruin, Avarice, ????

Elemental Suit: Emotional gain/loss
Symbol: Cups
Element: Fire
Plane: elemental plane fire
Meaning: issues dealing with the emotional state of being
Face Cards (5): Jester, Lover, ???
Force Cards (10): Love, Loss, Despair, Hope, Salvation, Damnation, ???

Elemental Suit: Intellectual gain/loss
Symbol: Book
Element: Water
Plane: elemental plane water
Meaning: the accumulation/loss of knowledge, insight and intellectual prowess
Face Cards (5): Sage, Librarian, ???
Force Cards (10): Knowledge, Wisdom, Insight, Secrets, ???

Elemental Suit: Social gain/loss
Symbol: Crown
Element: Air
Plane: elemental plane air
Meaning: the accumulation or loss of social standing, power etc.
Face Cards (5): Emperor, King, Queen, Knight, Maiden
Force Cards (10): Grace, Power, Justice, Succession, ???

To add to my previous post, the idea is that you have 'power suits' which represent influencing forces and 'elemental suits' which sort of show results and players being affected.

The face cards represent actual persons in most cases, where the force cards are either that, forces, or sort of outcomes in the case of 'element suites'.

This card suite is mainly constructed with games and divination in mind, not building blocks of the world per se, although the 8 suites represent the 8 basic building blocks of the world on one level.

The idea for the four 'elemental' suites came from the various 'intelligences', where you have social intelligence, emotional intelligence, intellectual intelligence etc.

Let me put it another way:

Let's say I have a suit of Fire. Now, Fire is cool - it's an element. I can imagine pictures of the Queen of Fire, the King of Fire, heck, ten flames for the Ten of Fire.

That's fine.

The problem is that if there was a suit of Fire, it really elevates the concept of the Elements higher than I'd be looking for. I'm trying, as much as possible, to get story elements about human or humanlike persons, and while you can do cool conflicts between elemental lords and such I have a harder time relating, say, a farmer threatened by drought to an element/force - focused system.

That, and I don't want to draw too many comparisons to the symbolism of M:tG (not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just a different aim than what I'm doing).

I find it amusing that your example is a farmer whose livelihood is in danger because the elements have turned against him. :)
