Hmmm... personally I am not happy with your way of using the forces (connect, delineate etc.) and the seasons, as I do not see their impact / implication, but that's just me I guess. Thinking a bit on your idea, I came up with the following (not yet complete, but you get the idea):

To add to my previous post, the idea is that you have 'power suits' which represent influencing forces and 'elemental suits' which sort of show results and players being affected.

The face cards represent actual persons in most cases, where the force cards are either that, forces, or sort of outcomes in the case of 'element suites'.

This card suite is mainly constructed with games and divination in mind, not building blocks of the world per se, although the 8 suites represent the 8 basic building blocks of the world on one level.

The idea for the four 'elemental' suites came from the various 'intelligences', where you have social intelligence, emotional intelligence, intellectual intelligence etc.

Let me put it another way:

Let's say I have a suit of Fire. Now, Fire is cool - it's an element. I can imagine pictures of the Queen of Fire, the King of Fire, heck, ten flames for the Ten of Fire.

That's fine.

The problem is that if there was a suit of Fire, it really elevates the concept of the Elements higher than I'd be looking for. I'm trying, as much as possible, to get story elements about human or humanlike persons, and while you can do cool conflicts between elemental lords and such I have a harder time relating, say, a farmer threatened by drought to an element/force - focused system.

That, and I don't want to draw too many comparisons to the symbolism of M:tG (not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just a different aim than what I'm doing).

I find it amusing that your example is a farmer whose livelihood is in danger because the elements have turned against him.
