    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

True, but that does seem to play into Hong's point rather than away from it.

    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

Well, there are flying opponents even in a low magic world. That's why you have to master Conan's signature, "Crucified Vulture Lure" technique.

    [Character Creation] Helpful Symmetry

I think that the excellent everyman archetype of humans is just one aspect of their fantasy heritage, the other is the vigorous young race/barbarians. Also, I'd argue that giving humans two free ability picks is way too sweet of an advantage. So I'm guessing humans get either one free bonus...

D&D 4E Going/Not Going to 4E which edition did you start with?

Started with 2E in the early 90s. Played around with most of the versions of that. I even retrograded back to some 1E and Basic set stuff at various points. Went to 3E and 3.5 right out of the box. And plan on doing the same with 4e.

    [Character Creation] Helpful Symmetry

You know I have no idea how they are going to handle humans and attribute bonuses. Perhaps there's a sacred cow blocking my view, but giving humans attribute bonuses just seems wrong. I can't wrap my head around it. But were I to guess con is the only attribute bonus I could see as being...

    What geometry do you prefer?

I like string with a grid. You measure out and get to stand on whichever square you can reasonably end up on. It's already such an abstraction that I'm willing to give a little lee way. Plus, the grid for reference helps you do changes of direction, which can otherwise be iffy for string.

New Confessions: The Down & Under Adventurer

Really? I didn't see it that way at all. To my mind, if the wizard gets specific utility out of magic weapons than that eliminates the problem of staves and wands as whole categories of magic items that were distinct in their own right. This is slimming down the catalog.

    [Character Creation] Helpful Symmetry

Thus far we've seen two distinct categrories of information on how race, class and abilities line up in 4E: 1.) The Stated Principles: Classes use multiple stats. Races that get stat bonuses get multiple positive stat bonuses. Races also get feats that help to focus characters in that...

New Confessions: The Down & Under Adventurer

She wears chucks! Good deal. Even I might balk at testing them against Monsoons. Staff of Defense, eh? hmmmm.

    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

Well calculating in the actual numerical benefit from the Magic Items is essentially what IH did with 3E and since 4E seems to really be focused on the numeric development I imagine it's even easier to do with the new system. Then you can throw in drawbacks for the magic items you do still feel...

    Ethics of Killing POWs

In terms of the evidence the idea that ethical behavior and empathy are entirely products of culture or environment is problematic at best. At the least the fact that mental disorders and physical damage to the nervous system can change the ethical behavior and empathetic capacity of human...

    D&D 4E Iron Heroes for 4e?

Well, were I you, and I'll likely be doing this even though I'm not, here is how I would work a homebrew conversions: 1.) Figure out which IH classes are redundant to 4E core classes - eliminate them. 2.) Figure out which 4E core classes are redundant or a violation of IH themes - eliminate...

So, what Class are you dying to play?

The cleric. I want to see if CoDzilla has truly gone away.

    Twenty plus one

I just find him bland, about the only thing he has going for him is that he does hate the undead so much. I would like him better if he were more 'holier than thou old school medieval Christian.' Heck, I love St. Cuthbert. Who actually is a holier than thou old school medieval Christian.

    Spell-less Ranger confirmed by Mearls

It is good news. Still I hope there is a magical paragon path for Rangers. I must admit to a shameful appreciation for mildly magical rangers at higher levels. I just like the idea that being pretty aware of your environment and eminently practical has a high likelihood of giving you magical...

Wow, I haven't thought about Loki in years, good call. That actually puts some interesting spins on that series for me as well.

    Design & Development: Halflings [merged]

Isn't this just taken more or less word for word from Races and Classes? I too am sad panda.

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

Sorry folks, nothing to see here, at the point where I'm arguing over halflings and square feet I know it's time for me to move on before I begin evolving rules for square dancing.

    Races of YOUR World

Well, I can understand that entirely. I'm not dealing with the subject of colonialism much at all, but given what I was working off of and towards I certainly gave it some thought. I think it's perfectly reasonable to get rid of the exile idea entirely, but I also think that it's a compelling...

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

To be fair they don't say their same they're the same length, they just say they are equivalent distances in terms of movement and accuracy.
