Transforming the Gestalt rule into a template ?

A +5 level adjustment is too steep. One of the premises of the gestalt concept was that it *doesn't* double the power of a character due to the "economy of actions"... a gestalt character has more depth, has more options to choose from, but still has the same number of actions he can take to do...

    Conceptualize the Paladin

When I think "paladin", two very different concepts spring to mind. The first is a warrior whose unselfconscious purity of heart and steadfast faith make him a paragon of strength, goodness, and chivalry. Galahad would be the Arthurian example. Huma from the Dragonlance novel would be...

    Half Dragon Confusion

Huh... I followed the link (on Int in the part about skills) in your post to the D&D Wiki site, thinking tht maybe the information you were referencing was different from the 3.5 SRD, but it looks the same at a glance... No mention of a tail attack, for example?

    Half Dragon Confusion

A 17th level Half-Dragon is equivalent to a 20th level character; an 18th level character is Epic, equivalent to a 21st level character. "The half-dragon gains dragon skill points only for its racial Hit Dice." You may want to refer to this site: d20srd.org "A half-dragon has two claw...

    Netherese Arcanist Prestige Class

There is an excerpt on the WOTC site that lists the Prestige Classes in the book. It says that the Netherese Arcanist is an Epic-level PrC, and that it appears in Chapter 7. So you wouldn't find it with the other PrCs. Hope that helps.

    D&D 3E/3.5 CleverNickName's 3.5E Multiclassing fix

This is really clever. The idea that a character needs "prework" to build up to a level in another class makes a lot of sense from a "simulationist" perspective. If the aim is to dissuade multiclassing, than this is a nifty approach. As to the feat cost, I was actually surprised that it was...

    Alternate Form/Polymorph question

Starbuck_II is correct. For a dragon, Alternate Form is primarily useful for disguise and subterfuge. Posing as an old man or young maiden are pretty standard ploys. Dragons of Eberron provided some additional options, however. The Hidden Strength feat (prerequisites: true dragon, ability to...

    Help with a Psi/Healer

There was a series of Minds Eye articles with alternate class features ala Players Handbook II for the psionic classes. One of the options for the Erudite variant Psion class, Mantled Erudite, would make for an effective psionic healer. A character could acquire the Life Mantle ('granted...

Undead PC Campaign - Horrible Idea?

Hi phloog. Are you familiar with the "Tome of Necromancy" on the Wizards Boards? There are a wealth of ideas there (as well as a fully "fleshed out" alternate rule set for everything related to the undead.) The most immediately significant are the alternate subtypes in post #6. They make the...

    Making a God of Fear...

“ I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I...

Brainstorm: Alternative Druid-Like Nature Classes (UPDATED!)

An "intellectual" nature-themed caster would be interesting. Perhaps the Archivist could serve as the model. The class would start with spells from the Druid list, for starters. There is (at least) one such variant posted here on EnWorld: Biosoph Class - Archivist of Nature. It would be...

    Ki

Ki is "Chi" (just an alternate spelling.) It is an eastern (Taosist?) concept which represents a kind of basic metaphysical force or energy. Think of it as life energy or personal power. (People have Chi, but so may objects or places.) Mystics and martial artists are thought to cultivate and...

    Pathfinder vs. 3.5?

Two things off the top of my head... There are some very nice spell "fixes". The Polymorph Problem is resolved rather elegantly through a series of spells of scaling level and power. The spells aren't overly complicated, and cover a wide range of possibilities. I was surprised to find that I...

    Half-Dragon + Feral Templates

Hi Celestiale. You've got enough options now that you're probably all set, but I want to add one more suggestion. The Druid Shapeshift variant class feature in the PHBII (Players Handbook II) synergizes very well with inherent natural attacks. Natural attacks gained from spells and psionics...
