    Runebound: Your Opinions?

I played Runebound (1st ed) 4 or 5 times and this was my impression as well. It wasn't a bad game, but there is nothing to do unless it is your turn.

    Anima: Beyond Fantasy "RPG"

Thanks for everyone's posts in this thread. Like the OP, I was unsure whether this RPG was for me, and the $60 pricetag deterred me from looking to much into it. Even though I am quite satisfied with D&D at the moment, Anima is definitely beginning to grab my interest.

Schools of thought--Where we all stand on the big questions

The OP and I seem to have very different perspectives on the game (no offense, of course, all opinions are equally valid), but I answered the questions to the best of my ability with the options given. Note that I started playing D&D with 3rd edition and have played 3.5 and 4e, but I have no...

    If you could choose...

The protagonist is a 16 year-old human swordmage, accompanied by his or her 80-something sensei, a human wizard. The protagonist's best friends are an amnesiac warforged warlord and a sarcastic halfling rogue. The group is rounded out by a mysterious eladrin star warlock. For the second...

Sorry, I preferred the first. B-)

    Mac or PC?

I own a six-year-old desktop running Windows and a one-year-old laptop running Mac OS X. As I use the latter more, I voted Mac.

    How should I pronounce Tiefling?

I pronounce it like the word "tie" followed by the word "fling." I don't particularly care whether it's the "official" pronunciation.

Where and on What do you Play?

At the library on my MacBook, or, depending on your perspective, at the Internet on MapTool. When I did play face-to-face games regularly, in my basement on a large dry erase board.

    How early for Santa

I don't want to think about xmas until about two weeks before. It bothers me a little that the holiday season now lasts for nearly 1/6 of the year.

Anyone importing 4E’s’Used gear sells for 1/5th if at all’ to other RPG systems?

Hmm. I've never played another system with D&D's emphasis on gear and economics, so no. (I usually don't deal much with gear and economics even in my D&D!)

Take Two: Testing The Correlation Between Class Preference And 4E Love/Hate

I voted that I prefer spellcasters, but that's only half true. I enjoy playing gishes. My favorite 3e/3.5 class was the Psychic Warrior, and my favorite 3e/3.5 character was a Bard/Fighter. I prefer 4e.

Does Your Heather Have Two Mommies?

It came up briefly with a changeling PC, but the player had to leave our game before the thing was resolved.

Was there a real need for a fourth ed.? Or would tweaking 3.5 have done it for you?

If a tweaked game had been released, I would have bought it, played it, and loved it. There wasn't a need for a new edition. ...but that doesn't change the fact that I love my new edition. I didn't realize how tired I was of dealing with 3.5s flaws until I played a D&D without them. It's...

    Designing a Social Power Source

I'll be watching this thread! A social class is somewhere on my own list of projects; if I get around to it anytime soon, I'll be sure to poke back in here.

    POLL: DM or Player?

Count me among the 95% GMs. I think it's been over a year since I've been a player and even longer since I've played in a non-PBP.

    Your Second Love

Tri-Stat dX was my second love, and, as far as genre- and setting-neutral game systems go, it's still high on my list.

Not letting the players know how much experience they have

If you show up for the entire session, you gain 4 experience. If you show up late or leave early (and let me know of this in advance), you gain 3 experience. If you can't make it to the session (and let me know of this in advance), you still gain 2 experience. Between any two sessions, 10...

Where 3E and 4E players stand in the great 3E disputes

In 3e, bad; in 3.5, good. Best thing that ever happened. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I did like it. The only fighter I ever played was a multiclassed fighter/bard, and she is probably my favorite 3e/3.5 PC. The class itself is pretty bland, but I wouldn't say it "sux." Below...
