4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Well, I think that the Lesser/Greater deity split is still in 4E, so perhaps that empty space could be filled by splitting the Immortal tier and bumping the others up a spot. Unless you specifically placed them such that the Primordials are solo enemies for Immortals, and I can see even that...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

    1) Multiclassing in 4E works very differently than in 3E, which seems to be the basis for your proposed divine system. This is a very weak point, but it's something to think about. It's just doesn't gel with what's come before. 2) Niche Protection. Your idea completely destroys it, by allowing...

    OOtS #558 is up

Nah, there's been a few oblique (I may be using this word wrong) references in past comics. But, it's the first that suggests the comic may convert and parody, rather than just mock.

Something like teleporting out of prison cells making an alternate method of confintement necessary. That sort of thing.

    Good Narrativist Game Systems?

World of Darkness is probably the most popular game that fits your description.

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Yeah, Archery is a little specific if you're limited to 20-24 portfolios. Though conceptually Skill is a better choice in terms of usability. Your list does seem to cover the major bases well enough, though, but I personally hope you don't go with your 5 level portfolio/role idea, I just see too...

    It's No Longer A Joke

Ummm, yeath, BECMI had 'winning' for at least a decade and a half before this came out.

    Multiclass characters: Class overload?

    Barbarian/Fighter/Bard/Ranger/Pious Templar/Exotic Weapon Master/Dragon Disciple/Occult Slayer/Paladin. Actual Character

    What's Your Favorite Fluff...Stuff?

For D&D, Eberron and Dark Sun are the only settings that have ever really set my imagination on fire. Outside of that, GURPS and nWoD are constantly putting out amazing stuff. GURPS Infinite Worlds and Promethean: the Created are among the best supplements of all time, for any game system.

May '08 What are you playing?

I'm doing Folklore on my PS3 before moving on to Enchanted Arms.

PSP - got one now :)

If you like tactical RPG's, then I have to recommend Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. A port from the PS2, this is an amazing game with very deep strategy, tons of unlockable characters, and almost unlimited replay value. Most RPGs top out at level 99. This tops out at level 9999. As a plus, it's...

D&D 4E Character conversion problems for 4e (Short Essay)

Maybe you could consider the gensai in the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide, then using feats to make up the rest?

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Poor. I don't anticipate Paizo going to anything epic themselves, and Pathfinder is so unimaginatively similar to 3.5 that it would basically amount to him continuing using the same system he has for the past few years, something he's already expressed his distaste of.

    Templates - Monster only?

To me, Lich seems like it would fit a Paragon Path fairly well.

D&D 4E Monte Cook on licensing (and 4E in general?)

Right now, Necromancer has announced a 4E adventure path, so that may be what you're looking for. No word on when it'll be released, though.

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

So I take it you'll be doing a 60 rather than 100 level structure under this new classification.

    Is Ascension for me?

Ah, OK. I'll try to pick up a copy later then. Thanks for the help.

    Is Ascension for me?

OK, here's a question. I'm interested in the general set-up of the Krustiverse, but largely uninterested in the mechanics of U_K's deific material. Which book, Ascension or Bestiary, would be a better buy for me?

    D&D 4E 4e Competition/Alternatives?

I'd recommend GURPS. It's a lot of fun, easy to wrap your head around, and the rules complexity can be scaled to match how complex you want them. There's a free preview on Steve Jackson Games' site. Not to mention it has the hands-down best written supplements in the industry.

    Collected DDXP Preview Pages

You're misunderstanding how the 1/2 level thing works. You don't add 1/2 your level to your ability modifiers. The +X next to a creature's ability score is the modifier to their ability checks and untrained skill checks using that ability. The 1/2 level is added directly to your AC, regardless...
