Mansions of Madness: A Boardgame/RPG crossover?

I hate Fantasy Flight Games, and their ability to produce games that I simply CANNOT resist. I think Descent has some RPG elements in a board game. Honestly, I see this as a crossover of Arkham and Descent. I think it looks like it's taking some of the best elements of both and mixing them...

Why is it so difficult to find good groups?

I can't agree to ignore this advice. If you're looking for a group and are desperate, sucking it up can help you meet some great people. Who knows, maybe you can then convert them to your favorite system, but don't miss out on an opportunity. Judge for yourself whether the game matters THAT much...

    GenCon 2011 - who's going?

I'm in for now, which means volunteering at the ENNies booth, as usual!

WFRPG 3E: How's It Working out for You?

I ran a game of it for a bit before player dropout due to having a kid. It went well, and I loved the system. We were playing the famous Enemy Within campaign, and I thought things were going great. So add another positive experience to the pile.

    New Ravenloft Scenarios

My friends and I are still playing it, and awaiting the new Ashardalon game coming out. It's pretty fun. Some odd rules wordings make it so some missions you have to check boardgamegeek to see what's going on, but nothing absolutely terrible.

Does anyone want to talk about D&D?

Gah, I wish I was playing D&D at the moment. I usually GM, but I'm in a Shadowrun game at the moment as a player, and running a Godlike campaign. My itch is getting bad enough that I'm considering playing at local Pathfinder Society gamedays. I've never played Pathfinder, and I'm one of those...

January: What are you reading for your penultimate year?

I finished First Lord's Fury and am waiting before starting the next Dresden book. I started on The Passage and am loving it. Those are on my Kindle. I'm still working my way through some old school cyberpunk-stylin books I picked up from a local used book store though, so those have to get in...

    Because I'm interested - requisitions

I don't have Essentials, so I can only speak for regular ol' 4e, but originally the PHB had magic items that were at a certain level. So an entry looked like this: Magic Item Totally Destroying Weapon +1 Lvl 2 +2 Lvl 7 +3 Lvl 12 +4 Lvl 17 +5 Lvl 22 +6 Lvl 27 This weapon totally destroys your...

    Because I'm interested - requisitions

Dima would just want some armor, a holy symbol and a weapon. Nothing specific, just N+1 = Holy Symbol, Armor = N and Weapon = N-1. Dima will also purchase ritual components, and a crap ton of PHB level 1 and level 2 rituals. No book, so no idea which ones those are. One novel thing you could do...

    Most Played FRPG of 2010

I finished up my Age of Worms game this summer, converted to 4e. I'm gearing up to run 'War of the Burning Sky' converted to REIGN, and have run my players through a little bit of that. REIGN is a ORE engine game, for those that don't know. You can find a bit about it at Greg Stolze's site...

Nearing 100000 members - How did you find En World?

Always been a lurker, but I started with Eric Noah's site, then lurked here, and even over at Circvs. I just lurk lurk lurk. I've participated in the Ennies Awards the past few years, volunteering at the booths, and playing a game or two at GenCon, so I've met a couple of you in person.

Help needed: Plot-testing the ZEITGEIST campaign saga

Sent you a message via email, RangerWickett. This sounds like an intriguing and fun way to test this kind of thing out, and I'm excited that you're offering the chance!

What happened to Gygax's Lejendary Adventures?

I played and owned Lejendary Adventures. It had a blue cover, and it was some dudes adventuring. One of the dudes on the cover was obviously Gary, and according to another guy I know, the cover was done by an artist who really liked to draw adventuring parties that consisted of the role-playing...

The voting booths are now open and Dream Dates are a go!

Ah! Voted, and bid on a dream-date. I was all set to skip the awards this year (even though I'm working the booth, what?), but one of the Dream Dates got me excited like a little boy, so now I'm in if I get that. Dang!

Combining World Works Games' Terrain with Fat Dragon Games' Terrain

They work fine together. You just have to make sure the sizing is the same. WWG had some terrain that is sized for MageKnight/HeroClix, but as long as you don't have that, you're fine. I do it all the time.

Rope trick and bag of holding? What to do?!?

Does the Rope Trick + Aura enhance or detract from the game? The last time I ran 3.5, it detracted from the game, so I ruled that Bags of Holding couldn't go in, which got rid of the 'problem'. The player's agreed, and we moved on. If they disagreed, we'd probably have a discussion, and see if...

    Gencon 2010?

This will be my third year going. I recommend checking out the Gencon forum that's stickied at the top of the General forum, although wait until it's changed to 2010. You can find games with other ENWorlders there, along with the ENnies booth sign up (which is a great way to meet people too).

Going to GenCon Indy for the first time

It really depends - there are some games you can just show up to, and some you'll definitely have to register ahead of time. Fantasy Flight, for example, has a huge space, both in the dealer hall and in their Con rooms. I *think* in the dealer hall, it's meant to be demos, but the Con room is...
