Gencon 2010?

I am going for the first time this year as well. I already have the hotel (Thank you Hilton Honors Diamond status!) but not the badge. I want to go to the Ennies and possibly play with some of the experienced folks I read all the time here. Do I need a special ticket for the Ennies and how do these games get set up? Thanks!

Official Games: Never played one. I only play and run games with ENW/CM folks and I wouldn't have it any other way. The quality of these games is just astounding and there is no better way, in my opinion, to learn to become a great GM while having the time of your life than gaming with these people. I highly recommend it.

I'd be totally down for gaming with enworlders if anyone wants to! :D

I'll be there! Gen Con rocks. I'm already counting the days until my kid's old enough to go and enjoy it.

For first-timers, although this is rather bland advice, I'd say the most important thing is to find what works for you. There are many ways to enjoy Gen Con: old friends, new friends, once-a-year friends, new games, old games, old games in new ways, seminars, "celebrity" sightings, awards, the dealer hall, Trade Day/Teachers' Day, the Ram, True Dungeon, and a ton more.

For less bland advice, I'd say: build up your endurance. Get tons of sleep the week before, get in shape, whatever you need to do. Because starting Wednesday (there are always games on Wednesday, don't miss them), you're going to want to get by on 6 hours max. sleep until Sunday night. Less if you can. It's that good.

Badges purchased, room reserved . . . I'm driving this year to avoid outrageous airline security.

It's a blast and the biggest event of the year for my wife and me. Five nights with no children (. . .)

Well, that really a matter of how you define "children" isn't it, you toaster? :D

I hope we get to play BSG with the expansion on Saturday*. :)

*but not too late, of course. ;)

Another first-timer here! Badge puchased, flights and hotel to come at the end of the month when I've been paid again. :)

I know there is a GenCon forum set up within General Discussion for ENWorld games. I'm planning on running one, maybe two games and generally enjoying meeting people. Not sure about how you attend the Ennies, though, I assume you need a ticket?

This will be my third year going. I recommend checking out the Gencon forum that's stickied at the top of the General forum, although wait until it's changed to 2010.

You can find games with other ENWorlders there, along with the ENnies booth sign up (which is a great way to meet people too).

My one bit of advice is to pack your schedule with as much stuff as humanly possible. Play five or six games a day. Eat unhealthy food in the 15 minutes between games. Drink a lot. Sleep very little. Rest up the week AFTER GenCon. ;) *sticks tongue out at BrentNall*
Dude, I have other things to do at GenCon. I didn't say rest and relax . . . I said don't overbook. Gotta be ready for those spontaneous thing.

Did I forget to mention five nights with no children . . . and that my wife is SMOKIN' hawt?

Well, that really a matter of how you define "children" isn't it, you toaster? :D[/Mark]
No children of ours with which to be concerned. And Rozanne was the toaster . . . TWICE!

Count us in, Mark! And some kind of board games at the picnic on Sunday.
