D&D 5E What Defenses Might Be Found in a Noble's Manor?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the suggestions - I'm digging guard peacocks ideas (they fit the "noble estate" vibe more than geese IMO), and I agree with the general consensus that traps would all be out of the way of the everyday inhabitants' motions. I'm thinking Glyphs of Warding loaded with...

D&D 5E What Defenses Might Be Found in a Noble's Manor?

Hi ENWorlders, I'd like to pick the collective braintrust's, well, brain, about how to flesh out my plans for an upcoming session. My player's' characters have found themselves on the wrong side of the law for a crime they didn't commit, and though the source isn't terribly reputable, the best...

    D&D 5E PAX predictions?

Rage of Demons and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide will be it til 2016, yes. They might announce next spring's products later this year (possibly even the mysterious in-house book Crawford mentioned they're working on), but they'll wait until after RoD has been out a little while first so no...

    D&D 5E Speculate on Pax

I'm changing my opinion slightly based on the other thread - specifically this part: It's possible, though not terribly likely, that they'll announce the book in the works after the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide.

Unearthed Arcana Crawford On Lots Of Stuff! Release Tempo, Video Games, OGL, Conventions, Unearthed Arcana, 2018, Tia

And just like that my hopes for a new animated D&D series are resurgent.

    D&D 5E Speculate on Pax

I don't think they'll even do that - they didn't announce Rage of Demons until Princes of the Apocalypse had been out for a month, and have been focusing on a "one marketing campaign at a time". They'll talk about SCL, Rage of Demons, the SCAG, and the movie. If there's another book coming out...

New D&D Movie To Go Ahead - Produced By Lego Movie's Roy Lee

Steven Colbert's also a former D&D player... I now dream of all the celebrities I want making cameos...

New D&D Movie To Go Ahead - Produced By Lego Movie's Roy Lee

Such a movie could be done and done well, but I doubt it's what Warner Brothers has in mind. That worked for The Lego Movie, because basically everyone is familiar with what' it's like to play with Legos. A film with more than the barest placement of easter-egg-level in-jokes referencing game...

New D&D Movie To Go Ahead - Produced By Lego Movie's Roy Lee

They won't do this, nor should they - as Sylvain points out, almost no-one's ever even heard of the Made For TV or Direct-to-DVD D&D movies, but more importantly, their entire brand strategy for the last several years has been to leverage the Dungeons and Dragons name. They're going to double...

[UPDATED AGAIN!] SOUTHLANDS HEROES - New Character Options for D&D From The Folks Who Made TYRANNY O

I was also a Kickstarter backer of this - haven't seen anything from Kobold Press yet about whether or not backers would receive this. It's exactly what I'm hoping for as I run 5E, not Pathfinder, so I hope to get word soon on whether I need to buy the PDF separately. I too am looking forward...

    A New DRAGON+?

No one outside of WotC is privy to that, but are you really disputing the point? If the tabletop game wasn't a tertiary revenue stream, that's where they'd be focusing their efforts. As it is, Sword Coast Legends and Neverwinter appear to be taking the #1 and #2 spots in terms of promotion...

D&D 5E Crystal Ball: A year in, how do you think 5E will unfold going forward?

Even if the delivery of said option is via the setting chapters of the next ~5 years worth of APs? It seems likely that that is where future Realms info will be shared with us first, excluding the Salvatore novels of course.

Hey, as long as Rodney's happy with the new gig that's what counts eh? :)

Rodney Thompson Leaves Wizards of the Coast

The video game industry doesn't quite have a single dominating player the way the tabletop industry does, but Bungie is very much in the WotC-tier, were we to compare the two. It's a household name for anyone who's picked up a controller in the last fifteen years and a very exciting career move...

Haha, WOW. Way to go, Rodney! Fingers crossed he's in a position to push for better story in Destiny. ;)

D&D 5E I think WotC has it backwards (re: story arcs)

I think we agree there, but I'm a tad less pessimistic about Dragon+ - if they were planning to get rid of it in a year or two I don't think they'd have bothered making it in the first place. Unearthed Arcana may eventually go away, but I'm still expecting to see it last long enough for them to...

D&D 5E I think WotC has it backwards (re: story arcs)

If I tell you what I'm expecting five years out, can you tell me what you think I'm wrong about? In five years, I'm expecting to see biannual AP releases, with accompanying PDF releases along the lines of the Elemental Evil Player's companion. Maybe future APs will have actual print companions...

    D&D 5E So, 5e OGL

I actually reviewed my post history to check - I'm going to say no, at least at the time that the PHB was released, but by October of last year I would have: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?367266-fifth-edition-release-schedule-cart-before-the-horse/page9&p=6404500#post6404500...

    D&D 5E So, 5e OGL

I fully agree with that last point, but that's just a matter of a few months after SCL coming out would be around the one year anniversary of them saying "we'll be announcing things soon", heh. :p I still don't think the OGL actually has anything to do with the IP used by SCL - everything is...

    D&D 5E So, 5e OGL

Can I ask why SCL is your threshold? I mean it's possible that they're holding off on an OGL until after it's out, but I doubt it - it's hardly like releasing an OGL would pull the IP's trademarks out from under the video game developers feet. More likely I think it's just wanted internal...
