[Iron Heroes] Do Berserkers just die a lot?

My solution would be to add the Conan "jug o' mead" rule - let the Berserker take a swig of a strong licquor to come back up to 0 HP after the fight :)

Hopefully it's more than flavor of the month...but we'll take what we can get ;)

    Spycraft 2.0 Skills

We definately targetted the skill system at hard coding for the players and GCs out there that need it - with the full expectation that many veteran GCs would simply use the skills the way they want to :) Codifying the skills strictly into checks was important for a few reasons: 1) to make...

Would this be as inappropriate as I think?

Good gravy. I would hope that folks seeing the number of industry owners/professionals sallying forth to this thread to defend the idea of ownership of a trademark is saying something. The opinions I'm seeing here arguing against the definition of trademarks, their value, or good relationships...

    Spycraft 2.0 is awesome!

While not explicitly laid out as a campaign quality in 2.0, damage saves are SOP for the standard NPC. This could easily be switched over to PCs as well - just assign a roman numeral to each class to represent its progression and you should get a usable total based on level, with no calculation...

    Spycraft 2.0 is awesome!

So, why are you playing d20? Why is vitality SO unpalettable but HP are perfectly acceptable? Because 1 line of different description in no way changes that VP/WP is HP but with the ability to kill in one shot rather than the terribly realistic system of grinding down a character hundreds of hit...

    Spycraft 2.0 is awesome!

Does edited copy count? ;) The AK-47 would inflict 3d6 vitality damage (avg 11 points). I presume small caliber, like a .38? Vitality again, 1d8+1 (avg 5.5). Not on average, no. Vitality models nicks, scratches, bruises, and being "winged." Losing wounds is more like getting gut-shot or...

Would this be as inappropriate as I think?

Phil, First, thanks for the kudos, and for your consideration :) We always appreciate that. I would absolutely recommend going to Patrick Kapera first - he's the man with the plan, and it'd be downright neighborly of you to inform him of your intentions about our baby. Kinda like an...

Spycraft + Iron Heroes: street date for the books?

That's EXACTLY what we hope people will see :)

    Will Spycraft dominate d20 Modern?

Spycraft is mostly Open Content, but like almost every other d20 publisher save WotC, they have not assembled an SRD for people to use. Look at the OGL notice in the back of any Spycraft book starting with the first and you'll see almost everything is Open. As for 3rd party stuff - it's there...

Spycraft + Iron Heroes: street date for the books?

Apparently the book is available in Australia already. We've got reports of it showing up in parts of the US over the next few days. August 1 was the street date I heard. So...very soon? ;)

    Will Spycraft dominate d20 Modern?

Hey folks, I've come to answer some questions/concerns expressed here re: 2.0 - and maybe dispell some rumors :) YMMV. Yes. These are built into the core book. IIRC, there are a dozen different treatments, ranging from Westerns to Near-Future, using the core classes and manipulating play...

I have Spycraft 2.0 in my possession

Thanks! :D I've been using Ken Hite's comment that Spycraft 1st ed was on the leading edge of the second generation d20 products, and considering this book "3rd generation d20." We're definately hoping to rattle the cages of a system that has kind of stagnated and say to fans and retailers...

I have Spycraft 2.0 in my possession

We've heard a street date of August 1, but the only peeps that could tell you for sure are the AEG shipping crew. "Soon" as in "pre-Gencon" is the only definitive answer I have, myself.

I have Spycraft 2.0 in my possession

The book is designed for modern-era (ie late 19th to early 21st century) gaming in the main book since that's what was expected of us :) I was the lucky ducky who got to write the dozen or so different ways you can tweak the platform to run in different periods across this time - from Westerns...

    Star Wars d20 is dead

While I agree with you BP, this is precisely why game lines die in the first place. Most of 'em are hangin' on a string from day 1, and the law of diminishing returns eventually catches up with you.

Any tips for 1st-time Spycraft GM?

Welcome to the fold :) In my totally unbiased opinion, Spycraft is a great d20 game. However, it does make substantial changes to the system, that may be a little daunting for the neophyte GM. Things that I would suggest understanding sufficently before running: * Learn how education...
