D&D (2024) What Licensed IP Do You Want For 5E?

Gregory Maguire's World of Oz seems to be right up Wizards of the Coast's alley.

D&D General Do you transfer characters between campaigns?

I used to do that back in the '80s with my bard. Nowadays I have recreated the same character in different campaigns and different systems.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

That is one thing I like about Shadowdark. Given that different characters can get different amounts of bonus experience points through carousing, they can be of slightly different levels at any given time.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I have run two Shadowdark adventures. The first I created myself and I ran it like any other 5e game. We had fun. I didn't really focus on the darkness; although their was an interesting scene where the Characters fought the Medusa in the dark, which neutralized her ability to petrify them...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

I appreciate the black and white art. I also like how the cover looks like a satanic bible. But most of all, I like the non-glossy pages. I want to write in the margin of my books and glossy pages make this harder.

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

Yeah, I don't disagree. In fact I just ran the Lost Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur written by Ms. Dione, and she specifically calls out the humanoids in that adventure as being dark adapted. My point is, when we began playing Shadowdark we thought all monsters could see in the dark, including...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

It was funny when we were first making characters for Shadowdark and we realized that you could play a goblin that can't see in the dark fighting goblins that can see in the dark. However, it's easy to overlook but on page 189 it does say that non-humanoid creatures are adapted to living in the...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

Yes indeed, humanoid monsters are not darkness adapted so one would expect their lairs to be lit.

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

Maybe we're trying to add a modern idea to something that is trying to be less modern. Maybe the modern idea is that a Player should always get to do something on their turn. Maybe Shadowdark doesn't care. Maybe sometimes your turn comes up, you roll the dice, and nothing happens. Fighters get...

Thank you Puknui for casting light on Jasper's garbled transmission from the void:

D&D General What modules have you reused for multiple campaigns

I've run level 13 of the Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Trobriand's Graveyard a few times with Fury Road enhancements in as many campaigns.

D&D 5E Can a Boggle Step Through it's Dimensional Rift?

The way I've been running them (the 2 or 3 times I've done so), is to have them dive between our characters' legs and teleport elsewhere. This is after they reach into our backpacks and steal random things.

D&D 5E Can a Boggle Step Through it's Dimensional Rift?

I always imagined they did, but now I'm not so sure. If the rift can be up to 10 ft. wide I don't see why they can only stick a portion of their body through. Dimensional Rift. As a bonus action, the boggle can create an invisible and immobile rift within an opening or frame it can see within 5...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

One guy online said he might allow a player to still cast their spell if they fail their spellcheck, but they will still lose the spell for the day. This way it's less of a downer when you fail a spellcheck because at least you still got to do something.

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

I would probably do away with the torch timer. I like it, so I may not do away with it, but when it goes off it's usually at a time when it doesn't matter and we just light another one. However, it does supply some tension just knowing it's there. I guess I'll keep it, maybe not.
