D&D 5E Using battlemaster maneuvers and sharpshooter damage with seeking arrow

We can't apply the -5 penalty because the seeking arrow hits on a failed saving throw. So, technically it doesn't work.

D&D 5E Re-gripping your weapon uses an object interaction?

This sounds very much like the way we used to play as munchkins. Dungeon Master: "The dragon jumps out and roars at you!" Player: "I shoot an arrow at him." Dungeon Master: "First you'll have to pull out an arrow, then next turn you can knock the arrow. Then, next turn after that you can draw...

D&D 5E Water Walk on the Elemental Plane of Water

I don't know why we're allowing ourselves to assume an air bubble exists in a total water type Plane of Water. Sure there are plenty of ways an air bubble could exist, but none of them are reliable. The only thing we can reliably expect of a total water type Plane of Water is that there will be...

    D&D 5E This Game Feels Like D&D 3.Xe

You could use stuff from the Level Up Advanced Fifth Edition rules. It reads a lot like Third Edition. Replace the Expertise Die mechanic with +2 bonuses. In fact, that was a big part of Third Edition--stacking various modifiers into a roll instead of the Advantage Die of Fifth Edition.

D&D 5E The tyranny of small numbers

I was flat out told that if I don't have a 14 in Constitution then I don't know how to play the game.

D&D General What Constitutes "Old School" D&D

You should let us vote as many times as we like so we can cover a whole spectrum we believe is old school. Excluding the mid 1970s 0D&D, I would include everything up to early 2nd edition.

    D&D 5E The Greatest Thing about 5e

I recently played an exhibition Pathfinder game with the venerable Greg Vaughn at the helm and had to remember, "Oh yeah, this is what we do in Third Edition."

    D&D 5E Spellcasters: Short-rest vs. Long-rest vs. Other

Sorry folks. I would like to apologize for my earlier flippant response.

    D&D 5E Spellcasters: Short-rest vs. Long-rest vs. Other

I don't care so I voted for the status quo.

Your thoughts on A Very Small Kingdom for 1e Dnd I generated using tables that my cousin's father in law made

This thread causes my phone to stall. Should I stop the page or wait? To unwatch I have to scroll all the way back to the top of the page. Woe is me. Sorry to poke fun, but it is a bit much. Snarf Zagyg doesn't even write this much.

D&D General The Future is Now! 3D AI-run VTT on Kickstarter

It's a bit of a philosophical question for me: If I use a computer to play a tabletop roleplaying game, is it still a tabletop roleplaying game or is it a computer roleplaying game? Not that a computer game is bad, it's just different. If my tabletop roleplaying game has beautiful and immersive...

D&D General The Future is Now! 3D AI-run VTT on Kickstarter

That would be the beginning of the First "Great" Digitization of Dungeons and Dragons. The Second Digitization is fundamentally different from the First but it shall lead to the same end.

D&D General The Future is Now! 3D AI-run VTT on Kickstarter

The Second Digitization of Dungeons and Dragons has come full circle. It all started with laptops at the table, then Hero Lab and monitor inset gaming tables, then Roll20 and VTTs, and now this. We've done it again.

D&D (2024) What do you want in the revised DMG?

I like the 5e books a lot. I particularly like the bolded word or phrase with a period to start a description of an ability or feature, and I love the art getting away from dungeonpunk. I do get confused when subheadings are underlined, and I do wish the page numbers were darker.

D&D General Stranger Things Image of a D&D Game

Oooo, staggered squares, I've always wanted something like that.

D&D 5E Which would you rather have?

It would be annoying to be blurry or hasty all the time. I'll take the bless ring. I could build my character around the concept of being blurry or hasty...but I don't want to. I guess I could just take the ring off when I want, but it's just easier to be blessed all the time. Attune it and...

    D&D 5E Player wanting to become vampire/half-vampire??

Yeah, I should really see that movie someday. It seems, okay. I actually knew a guy in high school who reminds me of Blade. He literally slept in a casket. Great guy, glad to call him a friend, but he was too cool for me.

    D&D 5E Player wanting to become vampire/half-vampire??

These are good suggestions. Thank you. However, he seems to envision his character as dry bones. One exchange we had when he was faced with blindness was, "How can I be blinded if I don't have eyes?" To which I replied, "How can you see if you don't have eyes?" (Touche, Dungeonmaster, touche.)...

    D&D 5E Player wanting to become vampire/half-vampire??

Yes, that is what we're doing. He is a skeleton. However, I will not broach the role-playing difficulties again with this individual. We have decided that society will not discriminate against skeleton people—end of story. (Look, I just want to play Dungeons and Dragons.) But, he approaches...
